PowerApp plan 1

Hi,

Can we create an environment other than the default one, using powerapp plan ?

If yes, can we use the sql server connector in that newly created environment ?

Thanks,

Mohit

Re: PowerApp plan 1

Hi Mohit,

When you create a new Environment, it is not possible to connect to an on-premise SQL Server in that newly created environment.

The reason is because the on-premises gateway works only against the default Environment.  The following thread in the ideas forum covers this topic. The ability to use the gateway in non-default Environments is planned, so hopefully this feature will come soon.

Hi @beniwal

Yes, you can create an environment using Plan1 and also add sql server connector in that newly added environment.

For more details about the capabilities of P1 plan, please refer: https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/#compare-plans

Hope this Helps!

Re: PowerApp plan 1

HI @yashag2255 ,

Thanks for your response!

One more thing, the sql database needs to be on cloud? or can we connect on-premise database with powerapps plan 1.

In powerapps and flow licensing guide : (3rd column is for Plan one). It says you can't do that

In this post it is clearly written that we need either powerapp plan 2 or flow plan 2 to access the admin center.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/environments-administration

It is really confusing, can you please give some details and links to support your claim.

Thanks, your help is appreciated 🙂

Re: PowerApp plan 1

You can connect to an on-prem SQL Db with Plan 1 but it does require you to set-up a data gateway to connect to the on-prem SQL server.

Yes you can connect to both SQL server on the cloud, as well as on-premises.

If you are looking for something specific to On-Prem Server, please refer: https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/connect-to-your-on-premises-data-sources-using-on-premise...

Hi @beniwal

Agree with @timl .

Gateways and on-premises connections can only be created and used in the user's default environment.
