PowerBI PowerApps Write-Back Via Hierarchy Selections In PowerBI Visuals

Hi,

I have connected a Powerapps app to an excel table in OneDrive. The file contains a hierarchy starting with products and markets. I want users to be able to make decisions (notes) and write back to the data file. The trick is that I want it to scale based on where they are selecting in the hierarchy. So for example, if a customer has a region/product selected and enteres a note, I want all records that have that region/product to receive that note. If a user then decides to make more granular decisions (notes) at the market/product level underneath that region/product, then it overwrites any existing decisions there with the new ones.

Is Powerapps capable of doing that?

Steven

Re: PowerBI PowerApps Write-Back Via Hierarchy Selections In PowerBI Visuals

Hi @sohnsat ,

Do you want to update  product with new note and then update all the same product with this note?

If so, I suggest you try UpdateIf function.

I've made a similar test for your reference:

1)insert a drop down, a textinput and a button.

2)Set the drop down's Item: tablename

                                     Value: product name

3)Set the button's OnSelect:

UpdateIf(tablename, product name=drop down1.Selected.product name,{notefield:textinput1.Text})

Here's a doc about this function for your reference:
