Re: How to Validate Vehicle Number in Powerapps

if I had to create such an app, I would approach it as follows:

  1. create an canvas-app (tablet or phone)
    • you need an "camera-control", with which you can take a photo of the car license plate
    • an trigger (button); the picture save on OneDrive or other drive
      • an flow will execute, when the picture-file will save on the drive
      • the binary-data must be send to the cognitive-service (or other ocr-service)
        • this data will response as JSON-result
          • in this JSON are so-called "boundary boxes". These indicate the area of the image where letters, numbers or other characters were found. Therefore, the JSON result can be quite large and complex. The JSON result can be performed with the ParseJSON flow.

The challenge here is to determine whether the string found is a license plate. (by RegEx? there is also an own Regex-Flow for this)

The next challenge is that license plates look different from country to country. (France, Poland, Germany, etc.) Should the validation be done on one country only. There are online Regex tools where you can test the strings in advance: https://www.regextester.com/96875
