Rectangle not showing

I have a menu pop-up that displays when you click an element "Hamburger menu" on the screen. There is also an overlay that is faded so you can still see the screen and enter in the information. Here is a post that goes over the whole thing: https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/creating-dialogs-in-powerapps/

Element "Hamburger menu" OnSelect:

UpdateContext({menuPopUp: true})

There is a group of elements named Menu_PopUp with text/rectangles that display with their Visible:

menuPopUp

One of the elements is the rectangle in question, its Visible element is EXACTLY the same as the other rectangles and text, but it does not display. I have to change its visible to true then reset it back to the variable for it to function properly. It previously worked, there were no edits to the application but all of a sudden it no longer works.

This seems like it is so simple that it should just work, any suggestions please let me know. 😃

Side note: The only difference from the other rectangles is that most of the visuals including color/tranparency/size are governed by another element on my theme page.

Re: Rectangle not showing

Hi @v-xida-msft,

Resolution? =/

I did a work around and pulled the overlay out of the group and it worked without issue after that. I literally changed nothing else, just taking it out of the group resolved the issue.

Attempts

  • I did some testing on the issue, if I shrink the overlay as to not touch any of the sides by ~50px then it would work properly. Once I resized it to the whole screen it did nto work. I attempted making the overlay 4 seperate rectangles (top left, top right, etc...) in hopes of resolving but nothing.
  • I also did like you have and created a new project and it worked without issue, even at full screen element.
  • Just to make sure I have checked and rechecked all vaiables and recreated every element on the original project with the same results.
  • I checked to ensure it wasnt behind something by even making it the front most element.

Do you mean that the Rectangle control could not be displayed as expected?

Correct, its Visible variable was true but it did not display, all other elements with the same varibile were displayed.

UpdateContext({menuPopUp: !menuPopUp})

Thanks for this, idk how I didnt do this to begin with, it didnt resolve it, I just like the code. 😃

On your side, please consider take a try to remove the control/governed (color/tranparency/size) by relationship between the Rectangle control (the issue related to) and the another element (you mentioned) within your theme page, then check if the issue is solved.

I created a fresh element within the group detached from my theme element with the same results.

Note: If you have grouped lots of Rectangle/Text Input controls within your app already, please use the Group control as a whole, not set a control relationship between the sub controls within this Group and the other controls outside this Group.

Yes, this is how it is set up.

I appreciate the assistance and time you spent on your post @v-xida-msft, I would still love to figure out what the issue is/was, but for now it is working as intended.

Re: Rectangle not showing

Hi @Bahalzamon ,

Could you please share a bit more about your issue?

Do you mean that the Rectangle control could not be displayed as expected?

I have made a test on my side, and don't have the issue that you mentioned. The GIF screenshot as below:Test.gif

Set the OnSelect property of the "Hamburger menu" button to following:

UpdateContext({menuPopUp: !menuPopUp})

Set the Visible property of the  Menu_PopUp group control to following:

menuPopUp

On your side, please consider take a try to remove the control/governed (color/tranparency/size) by relationship between the Rectangle control (the issue related to) and the another element (you mentioned) within your theme page, then check if the issue is solved.

Note: If you have grouped lots of Rectangle/Text Input controls within your app already, please use the Group control as a whole, not set a control relationship between the sub controls within this Group and the other controls outside this Group.

Re: Rectangle not showing

Hi Bahalzamon,

I am having exactly the same issue.

I have tried pulling the overlay out of the group. No luck either.

Re: Rectangle not showing

I have been able to fix this issue.

I was setting a variable at the screen level with the command OnVisible and later using UpdateContext to update the variable, this produced both a global variable and and a "Local Screen Variable".

I removed the Set command within the OnVisible property of the screen and everything is working as expected.

Re: Rectangle not showing

Another thing I did was stop using the UpdateContext and just use the Set, that helped with a lot of random issues throughout the app.
