SearchUser on a collection

HI There,

I'm trying to display a galery with all required attendees of a meeting. The issue is that outlook connector is returning the values as emails and in my company that isn't the same as UPN so the only thing to convert this into users profiles for me is to use Office365Users.SearchUser but I can't seem to figure out how to make it search to either semicolon delimited string or a collection.

I can only get the first record in the collection.

This is what I tried to do, but it doesn't work:

ClearCollect(RequestedAttendees,ForAll(CalendarEventAttendees.Result,Office365Users.SearchUser({searchTerm:First(CalendarEventAttendees).Result})));
ClearCollect(RequestedAttendeesProfiles,ForAll(RequestedAttendees,RequestedAttendees.Value))

Does anybhody have an idea how this could be done?

Kind Regards

Hi Guys,

so I got it solved, the V2 profile wasn't showing up because I've been using the OrgBrowser app made by MS as a template.

This app was created before the V2 endopint was introduced. When I removed the datasource and re-added it works like a charm.

It would be nice if the OrgChart app got an update so that this isn't an issue anymore.

Kind Regards

I think there is an issue with the connector. You should be able to use User principal name or email id in the Office365Users.UserProfile() function. Our UPNs and Email Addresses are different and I just tried it and I can only get it to work if I use the UPN. However, if I use the Office365Users.UserProfileV2() function I can get it to work using UPN or Email Address.

@cherieand @CarlosFigueira,

Can you verify that this is an issue? I know most companies have their UPN set to their Email Address but for the companies that don't this could be a issue.

That is correct, Jeff!

The v2 version of UserProfile will take either an email address or an UPN.  We have seen many issues from customers where they pass in the email address, instead of the UPN.  The v2 version will try to retrieve the profile information assumming the value is a UPN, but will fall back to do a Search using the emailaddress.  It is slightly inefficient when an email address is sent, but it should work. [We cache the value; so it should help if there are many calls.  But there is always a cache-miss scenario. ]

The v1 version of UserProfile expects an UPN.

Outlook returns only the email address (because it is not necessary that the attendees map to a user in the same tenant).

@SameerCh,

The intelliSense in PowerApps indicates that the v1 version accepts both UPN and Email.

Hi Jeff,

thank you for your suggestion unfortunatelly I don't have the V2 profile available in my company so I can't take this approach and the V1 doesn't work with email.

Can you think of another solution using the SearchUsers as that seems the only way of approach for me?

Kind Regards

I am curious why the V2 profile isn't available because I thought it was part of the O365User connector. Have you tried removing the connector and adding it back to see if that refreshes the connector, so you can see the V2 profile?

I would like to see V1 Profile fixed since the documentation says it is suppose to work with both UPN and Email. My company's UPN is also different than our Email, so I understand the frustration. We also run into issues with User().Email because it actually returns the UPN and not the email address. Most companies don't see these issues because their UPN is the same as their email.

@Jeff_Thorpe

Yeah I'm trying to figure out why it isn't available as well probably some setting in our tenant regarding Graph API used by the V2 profile. But until then it seems there is no solution to what I'm trying to do...

Any other suggestions?

It should show up as the definition is the same for all users. The only case where it will not show up is if you have added the connection to your app before the operation is released (last year). In that case, removing the connection and adding it back should fix the issue.

@SameerCh

It should but it doesn't and my app was created last week so that isn't the case as well. My company has the V2 endpoint of Azure disabled at the moment. We are only using work accoiunts and no personals which looks like the main focus of the V2 endpoint according to description. I'm looking into possibly enabling it but it'S not that easy in company of our size.

Is there any other way to approach this issue?
