SubmitForm: validate a collection

Hi,

Is there an issue with the validation that is performed on SubmitForm when the DataSource is a collection?  Just noticed that none of the required fields are being enforced.

Cheers

Jeremy

Re: SubmitForm: validate a collection

Hi jmartin,

Are you trying to use the SubmitForm function to submit data to a collection?

When use this function, we need to specific a Form, while we are not able to show Collection data on a form.

As collections are local to the app and not backed by a connection to a service in the cloud. So when you try to show collection data on a form, there would be no data for it.

About how to update a collection in your app, please check this documentation for a reference:
https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/tutorials/create-update-collection/

Re: SubmitForm: validate a collection

Hi @v-yamao-msft,

Currently I setup the local collection by mirroring the structure of the forms connected datasource.  Once I have finished designing the form I change the datasource to the local collection and all the data seems to be persiting correctly.

However the validation does not seem to behave correctly.  The required property of the datacard is set to true and yet on SubmitForm this is ignored.

I have resorted to using IsEmpty but if there is a better way I can toggle the is-required event of the datacard it would be much nicer.

Thanks
Jeremy
