Using Flow to link a Forms form to open another additional/sub Forms form - possible?

Hi,

I am currently in the process of creating a Quality Assurance process using Forms. I orginally looked at PowerApps, but this was going to be a bit to involved for the basic task I am looking for.

So in using Forms I have come across various limitations - maximum 100 questions/responses combined, 10 likerts, no option to add sections or intructions and the list goes on. I have been in the UserVoice and a few ideas, which I have voted in favour of, have already been submitted around these issues, without an implementation date as yet.

Anyway what am I am wondering, again which I can't seem to find anything about, templates or otherwise is if I am able to have a master form, with a small number of sub forms, which I can use Flow to link somehow.

I hope the above makes sense and would be thankful for any input, help or assistance or even if this isn't possible for sure.

Thanks,

James.

Hi @JPChadd ,

Do you mean that the Forms that you mentioned is Microsoft Forms rather than PowerApps forms?

If the Forms that you mentioned is Microsoft Forms rather than PowerApps forms, I afraid that there is no way to achieve your needs in PowerApps and Microsoft Flow currently. There is no triggers supported within Microsoft Forms connector to achieve your needs in Microsoft Flow currently (there is no way to detect if you have selected the relevant response on the original form within Microsoft Flow).

If you would like this feature to be added in Microsoft Teams connector, please consider take a try to submit an idea to Microsoft Flow Ideas Forum or PowerApps Ideas Forum:

https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/PowerApps-Ideas/idb-p/PowerAppsIdeas

Hi @JPChadd ,

Could you please share a bit more about your scenario?

Could you please show more details about the Flow that you mentioned? Is it Microsoft Flow?

Further, do you want to use the link sent from a flow (Microsoft Flow) to open a sub form?

The user @LIL has faced similar needs with you, please check the response within the following thread:

https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/General-Discussion/Relationship-between-forms/td-p/169933

On your side, please take a try with the following workaround:

  1. Within your app, add multiple Edit forms -- MasterForm, SubForm1, SubForm2, SubForm3, ...
  2. Connect above added Edit forms to corresponding data source (Set DataSouce property of the above Edit forms to corresponding data sources).
  3. Set the OnVisible property of the first screen of your app to following:

Set(ItemID, Param("ItemID")); /* <-- Receive passed ItemID value passed from the URL sent from your flow */
Set(SubFormNo, Param("SubFormNo")); /* <-- Receive passed SubFormNo value passed from the URL sent from your flow */
If(
!IsBlank(SubFormNo) && Value(SubFormNo) = 0,
EditForm(MasterForm);Navigate(MasterFormScreen, ScreenTransition.None),
!IsBlank(SubFormNo) && Value(SubFormNo) = 1, EditForm(SubForm1);Navigate(SubFormScreen1, ScreenTransition.None), !IsBlank(SubFormNo) && Value(SubFormNo) = 2, EditForm(SubForm2);Navigate(SubFormScreen2, ScreenTransition.None), !IsBlank(SubFormNo) && Value(SubFormNo) = 3, EditForm(SubForm3);Navigate(SubFormScreen3, ScreenTransition.None), ... )

Then within your flow, you should define the URL which you want to use to launch your sub form as below:

https://web.powerapps.com/apps/382d7ed9-163c-81eb-n0n6-be90dr74dg8h?ItemID=2&SubFormNo=1 /* <-- within your app, you could use specified dynamic content to replace the 2 value and 1 value */

Note: The "382d7ed9-163c-81eb-n0n6-be90dr74dg8h" represents the App ID of your app.

Or

https://web.powerapps.com/webplayer/iframeapp?source=iframe
&appId=/providers/Microsoft.PowerApps/apps/382d7ed9-163c-81eb-n0n6-be90dr74dg8h?ItemID=2&SubFormNo=1

https://web.powerapps.com/webplayer/iframeapp?source=iframe
&appId=/providers/Microsoft.PowerApps/apps/382d7ed9-163c-81eb-n0n6-be90dr74dg8h?ItemID="A specific Item ID value"&SubFormNo="A specific SubForm No"

Note: The SubFormNo=1, means that want to open SubForm1, The SubFormNo=2, means that want to open SubForm2, The SubFormNo=3, means that want to open SubForm3, ...

More details about open a form via a specific URL, please check the response within the following thread:

https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/General-Discussion/Pass-Parameter-to-Specific-Form/m-p/134852

Hi,

I have no idea how this has ended up in the PowerApps community, as I am sure that I posted it within the Microsoft Flow Community pages(?).

Yes I am using Microsoft Forms and my query is around Microsoft Flow and if linking 2/3 seperate MS Forms is even possible and if so how I might go about it.

Essentially there will be a master form with the main set of questions, but what I am *wanting* to do is have a couple of addtional scenario based sub forms maybe, if you like, that when you select the relevant response on the original form it triggers a flow that takes you to the correct sub form. The reason I am looking at that is that my ideal of getting my QA process into one form, given the limited restrictions of 100 questions/responses, the effectively rules out me using 'branching' as my method for this, until this limit is removed or increased.

Hope the above makes sense.

Thanks,

James.

I have a feeling that this wouldn't be related to PowerApps though.

Thanks,

James.

Tuesday Tip: Subscriptions & Notifications

TUESDAY TIPS are our way of communicating helpful things we've learned or shared that have helped members of the Community. Whether you're just getting started or you're a seasoned pro, Tuesday Tips will help you know where to go, what to look for, and navigate your way through the ever-growing--and ever-changing--world of the Power Platform Community! We cover basics about the Community, provide a few "insider tips" to make your experience even better, and share best practices gleaned from our most active community members and Super Users.   With so many new Community members joining us each week, we'll also review a few of our "best practices" so you know just "how" the Community works, so make sure to watch the News & Announcements each week for the latest and greatest Tuesday Tips!   This Week: All About Subscriptions & Notifications We don't want you to a miss a thing in the Community! The best way to make sure you know what's going on in the News & Announcements, to blogs you follow, or forums and galleries you're interested in is to subscribe! These subscriptions ensure you receive automated messages about the most recent posts and replies. Even better, there are multiple ways you can subscribe to content and boards in the community! (Please note: if you have created an AAD (Azure Active Directory) account you won't be able to receive e-mail notifications.)   Subscribing to a Category  When you're looking at the entire category, select from the Options drop down and choose Subscribe.     You can then choose to Subscribe to all of the boards or select only the boards you want to receive notifications. When you're satisfied with your choices, click Save.   Subscribing to a Topic You can also subscribe to a single topic by clicking Subscribe from the Options drop down menu, while you are viewing the topic or in the General board overview, respectively.     Subscribing to a Label Find the labels at the bottom left of a post. From a particular post with a label, click on the label to filter by that label. This opens a window containing a list of posts with the label you have selected. Click Subscribe.           Note: You can only subscribe to a label at the board level. If you subscribe to a label named 'Copilot' at board #1, it will not automatically subscribe you to an identically named label at board #2. You will have to subscribe twice, once at each board.   Bookmarks Just like you can subscribe to topics and categories, you can also bookmark topics and boards from the same menus! Simply go to the Topic Options drop down menu to bookmark a topic or the Options drop down to bookmark a board. The difference between subscribing and bookmarking is that subscriptions provide you with notifications, whereas bookmarks provide you a static way of easily accessing your favorite boards from the My subscriptions area.   Managing & Viewing Your Subscriptions & Bookmarks To manage your subscriptions, click on your avatar and select My subscriptions from the drop-down menu.     From the Subscriptions & Notifications tab, you can manage your subscriptions, including your e-mail subscription options, your bookmarks, your notification settings, and your email notification format.     You can see a list of all your subscriptions and bookmarks and choose which ones to delete, either individually or in bulk, by checking multiple boxes.     A Note on Following Friends on Mobile Adding someone as a friend or selecting Follow in the mobile view does not allow you to subscribe to their activity feed. You will merely be able to see your friends’ biography, other personal information, or online status, and send messages more quickly by choosing who to send the message to from a list, as opposed to having to search by username.
