how to create an app through SharePoint and not have it be in tablet format

Hello,

I am trying to create an app through SP and need it to be in tablet format. Everytime I try to create it, it automaticlly puts it in phone format and doesnt allow me to change it.

It doesnt prompt me or anything to choose what format I want.

Does anyone know how to fix this? please let me know if you have any additiona questions.

Apps built starting with data are always built using the mobile formatting.  To build a tablet app you'll need to start with a blank app, add a data source pointing to SharePoint and then add the controls you need for the app.  If you build a phone based app from data first it can help because you will basically need all the same controls on the tablet formatted app.  There just isn't an option for building it starting with data.  You have to do it manually.

Do you want to create a Tablet layout app based on your SP list?

Do you generate an app based on your SP list using PowerApps?

In default, PowerApps use Phone layout as the default layout of a canvas app. If you want to create a Tablet layout canvas app, please consider take a try with the following two ways:

1. Convert the Phone Layout to Tablet Layout:

On your side, you could consider change the app layout from Phone Layout to Tablet Layout within your PowerApps Studio for web. Please check the following GIF screenshot for more details:

2. You could also consider take a try to create an app from scratch, then you could choose a Tablet layout app:
