A little tip with static Excel data: Format as 'general'!

Hopefully the community can learn from this silly mistake.

I had a table working perfectly as static excel data for my app. Then, I changed a bunch of stuff, removed the existing table in powerapps, re-uploaded the new table (archaic, I know, but it works for this stage of the app's development)...

...Errors everywhere!

After doing some digging, I realised that the table's values were no longer recognised as text. This caused issues, for example, with isMatch() and Split() functions.

Reformatted the data as 'General' (you can do this on the 'home' tab of Excel). Re-uploaded to the app. Boom, fixed!

What a drama...well, given the amount of questions I ask on this forum, I figured it was time I gave something back! Happy app building guys! 🙂

Re: A little tip with static Excel data: Format as 'general'!

Hi @MaxDonen ,

If you have changed the architecture of your data source. Then remove and re-add the data source in PowerApps, this is expected behavior. Since the column types/column names might be all different, we usually recommend to recreate the app with the new data source.
