A weird bug for my tracker

The way my tracker works is that if your turn on the toggle the background changes indicating that the user earned that item. The problem is every time I search for an item and turn it on, once I delete the words in the textbox, the tracker shows me other items with the toggle off but the background changed. Is there a way to prevent this?

My guess is that you are using something like This.Item to reference each item but it should be along the lines of Gallery1.Selected.FieldName - when you change the back ground.

Try NOT filtering for any items, then toggle the first/top item, my guess is that all the items backgrounds will change ... maybe?

I tried it but it didn't work. These are the commands I used for the background and the search function.

@WatermelonCat I had something similar with checkboxes where I'd select one and ALL would be selected.

For your code, I think Toggle2.Value will select all Toggles in your gallery. Try something like BrowseGallery1.Selected.Toggle2.Value instead.

I've been trying different things but can't get it working either. If you put a label outside the gallery and make it's text property

Label1.Text = Toggle1.Value you can see it change from true to false when you toggle any toggle in the gallery. This suggest to me you are selecting all toggles but I can't get it working.

maybe someone else has solved this issue before and can help?

Could you please share a bit more about your scenario?

Do you want to change the background when you turned on the Toggle within the corresponding Gallery Item?

Based on the formula you provided, I think there is something wrong with it. You could not change the background color value of the Gallery Item based on Toggle1.Value. As an alternative solution, you should add a column (e.g. called "ToggleValue") in your Table1_6 to store the Toggle value, then change the background color value of the Gallery Item based on the column value.

I have made a test on my side, please consider take a try with the following workaround:

1. Add a "ToggleValue" column in your Table1_6 to store the Toggle value.

2. Refresh the Table1_6 data source within your app manually.

3. Set the OnCheck property of the Toggle control within the Gallery to following:

Patch(Table1_6, ThisItem, {ToggleValue: "Yes"})

set the OnUncheck property of the Toggle control within the Gallery to following:

Patch(Table1_6, ThisItem, {ToggleValue: "No"})

set the Default property of the Toggle control to following:

If(ThisItem.Toggle = "Yes", true, false)

4. Set the TemplateFill property of the Gallery to following:

If(
   ThisItem.ToggleValue = "Yes",
   LightBlue,
   RGBA(0,0,0,0)
)

Please consider take a try with above solution, check if the issue is solved.

@WatermelonCat I think the issue is the Search() and/or Filter() functions in the Items of the gallery. Seems these functions Reset data in the gallery to that found in the first row. Not sure why?

A workaround I could think of would be to create a base collection of your data source and add a column, say "ColorFill", like this

Screen.OnVisible = ClearCollect(colBase, AddColumns( yourDataSource, "ColorFill", 0 ))

Zero here means colour is base colour, we'll use 1 to set LightBlue.

Add a button next to your search box, call it Filter (or some relevant name). Code

Button.OnSelect = ClearCollect (colGallery, << your current SearchBox code >> );

Add a Cancel "X" icon to your searchbox, code : Clear(colGallery)

Items property of gallery code: If( CountRows(colGallery) = 0, colBase, colGallery )

The gallery Toggle OnCheck / OnUnCheck code:

OnCheck = UpdateIf( colBase, ID = ThisItem.ID, { ColorFill: 1 }); ClearCollect (colGallery, << your current SearchBox code >> );

OnUncheck = UpdateIf( colBase, ID = ThisItem.ID, { ColorFill: 0 }); ClearCollect (colGallery, << your current SearchBox code >> );

TemplateFill code: If ( ThisItem.ColorFill =1, LightBlue, RGBA(0,0,0,0) )

This might work? Apologies if the code isn't exact as I'm putting this together on an iPad and haven't tested it but hopefully you get the idea? The main concepts are that you use a button to filter a base collection with a helper column and the gallery items are 1 of 2 collections rather than the data source. Hope this makes sense.

EDIT: Sorry, the ClearCollect( colGallery ...) would need to have colBase as it's collection and not your data source. Let me know if you have trouble coding this up and I'll see what I can do

Could you please share a bit more about the error message with your formula?

Which data type is the ToggleValue column in your Table1_7?

Based on the needs that you mentioned, I think the solution I provided above could achieve your needs. Please make sure you have added a new column called "ToggleValue" in your Table1_7 data source already.

Please set the OnCheck property of the Toggle control within the Gallery to following:

Patch(Table1_7, ThisItem, {ToggleValue: "Yes"});
Refresh(Table1_7)

set the OnUncheck property of the Toggle control within the Gallery to following:

Patch(Table1_7, ThisItem, {ToggleValue: "No"});
Refresh(Table1_7)

Note: I assume that your BrowseGallery1 connects to the Table1_7 rather than Table1_7. Please make sure the Gallery connects to same data source the Patch function applied to.

When you added a new column in your Table1_7, please consider refresh the Table1_7 data source within your app manually. Please consider take a try with above solution, then check if the issue is solved.
