Access to PowerApp without sharing Excel File

Hi all,

I created a PowerApps App, based on an excel spreadsheet. The PowerApp should give the colleagues the option to read that data from the excel file, that is relevant to him. This works fine so far. But unfortunately, this works only, when the excel file is shared with the colleague. As there are personal data in the excel file, we do not want to share the file with all colleagues.

It there any option to overcome this problem?

Thank you very much in advance!

Hi PowerUser09,

An Excel sheet doesn’t allow for permissions at a granular level (such as the individual cells that are relevant to the user using the app). Because of this, the file must be shared with the account used for the connector for the app.

I would suggest reviewing potential data sources for an option where the record data permissions can be controlled at a more granular record or field level, such as a CDS database.

I hope this helps.

Thank you,

Rory
