Add Item to drop down list

Hello,

I have a drop down list that is populated from a sharepoint list called TBL_ActiveJobList.  I want to inject another item into the drop down that is not on the share point list.

For example:

Work Order Drop down:

111555

111556

111557

New Order <----  This is what I want to have show up on the drop down that is not on the share point list.

Have you considered using a Collection to store the values from TBL_ActiveJobList and then add 'New Order' to the Collection?

You then use your collection as the datasource for the drop down.

Of course, you would need some logic to refresh the collection for when new orders are added. Perhaps a refresh button and/or each time you enter the screen (OnVisible) that contains the drop down.

Seems like such a pointless workaround to add custom items to your list.

Why cant

[ *yourdatasourceitems*, "yourcustomitem"]  syntax work?

Hi, can you elaborate on this syntax? Haven't seen it before and not sure what it's called

Hi. Just had a similar problem and came up with the simplest solution. I have a dropdown box getting a list of areas from a SharePoint list. If the user cannot see the area they want,  all they have to do is type it in a textbox. Button submits the new area to the list. Refresh button refreshes items in the dropdown and the new area appears in the dropdown!
