Add a filter box in a gallery

Dear all, first... a big hello to all of you.

I'm really new in power app and I've created a new app with a gallery. My problem is that I would like to add a filter to the gallery to select the records with a specific owner, plus remove from the list the "completed" actions

The data source is a sharepoint table with:

Owner = text field

Status = dropdown with unic value choise

name of gallery = 'PR&C Accountability Board'

Can you help me with a step by step process considering that I'm really new?

Thanks a lot for helping

How is the owner being stored in your SharePoint list?  Is it a Text Column, a Choices column, a People Picker?

Hello @mdevaney

it is a Text Column. I tryied to use a combobox but I read from the post that this is not easy to manage when filtering by Power App, therefore I decided to stay on the Text colum (there are no many names in the organization) Thanks

Hi @AlexTB ,

1. Add a TextInput Box at the top

2. Set items property of Gallery:

Filter('PR&C Accountability Board',Owner=TextInput1.Text &&Not(Status.Value="Completed"))

Hope this helps

doesn't work (see picture of the result).

Just a question... do I have to set the textinput box in some way?

Hi @AlexTB

The Status is Choices type column, right?

What is the error message on items property? Please share it via screenshot.

Yes, the status column is a choises type colum (single choise)

attached the screenshot (sorry... it is in Italian)

it seems there is an error on characters, could be possible the "&" in the gallery name is generating the error? If yes, how can I change?

Hi @AlexTB ,

Please try this:

Filter('PR&C Accountability Board';Owner=TextInput1.Text && Not(Status.Value="Completed"))

Change the comma to a semicolon to fit your local language.

so... much better:

1 - the entire formula gives an error (a yellow alert) saying that "&&Not" is not supported by this connector

2 - changing the formula to --> Filter('PR&C Accountability Board';Owner=TextInput1.Text) the filter works but only if I digit some letter. Remaining empty does not appear nothing and this is not what I want. With no input the gallery should show all records

I hope I'm clear 🙂

additional issues:

looking the app checker i noticed a lot of missing accessible labels and I had modified the parameter as suggested from -1 to 0

and I have introduce a name where suggested. Now... the filter, also without the && part is not working even if there is no error. Errors appears in the other pages like: name isn't valid. Is this connected? why there is a suggestion to put a name if them there is conflict?

Additionally, what I wroto above remain:

The first part of filer works (I hope, resolving the above) but only if no digit the gallery remain empty. The second part, excluding "completed" doesn't works .

Thanks for support
