Add new list item using a powerapp on a sharepoint page

Hi,

I cannot find this question answered.

I am often asked to do a form on a SharePoint list item where the users request just their part of the infomation and the people who own the process, fill in the rest of the information.  This comes up for example in Requests and when the request is fulfilled, the process owner updates the request form with the completion information.

With InfoPath, I could place a New Item form on a SharePoint page.  The process owners could go to the list and Edit the information.

When using PowerApps, tell me if I have the best solution:

1-Create the SP list and use PowerApps Customize for the process owners.

2-Create a PowerApp on the SharePoint list and have a NewForm and a Thank You Screen, nothing else needed.

3-Place the PowerApp on a SharePoint page for the requesters.

Thank you!

Joanna

Hi @Anonymous,

Yes, this can be achieved. But I'm not sure about the difference between your 1st and 2nd request.

1. You could create PowerApps form on SharePoint list. And once this form is created, the users could edit the existing items/create new items with the form on SharePoint list site directly. To create this customize form, in the list site, click here:

About customized forms in SharePoint list, please refer to:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/canvas-apps/customize-list-form

2. Which the above customized form created, when you click on +New button, the new form would appear. You just need to customize the form in PowerApps and add a new screen with Thank You label. Add a button to navigate to the new screen.

3. If you mean that you want to create standalone app and embed this app to SharePoint site, then this could be achieved following link below:

Thank you Mona.

I was just trying to confirm that when we want to restrict users to seeing/using only the New Form and them not being able to use the Edit and View forms, that a good solution is to build the New form and Thank You using a PowerApp.  By creating a new form and thank you, you can then place the powerapp on a sharepoint page.  Also, you need the app id from a PowerApp to put the New Form on the SharePoint page which I do not think you can get using Customize.

Then, the few people that need access to the Edit and View forms to process the request could use a powerapp created using Customize within the SharePoint list.

It's really a question about the best way to restrict users, New Form vs Edit Form users.

Thanks so much!

Joanna
