Adding a user to a SharePoint group

Hello,

I am trying to automate our new starter process. I have a form in PowerApps which captures all the new user info. I’m creating a new record in my Resources SP list, a new Azure user, will be adding them as members to relevant Teams but how can I add them to my SharePoint site groups?

any suggestions?

thanks 😊

The login name will be more than just the email address.  it will be a string in the following form where user@domain.com is the User Principal Name (email address) used to login to SharePoint Online.

i:0#.f|membership|user@domain.com

You can invoke a flow to add them to the group using a REST API.  Follow the steps here:

Thanks for the speedy reply! Is that my only option? Would prefer to keep everything in PowerApps...

Its possible to do it in Power Apps, but requires building a custom connector using the REST API which is a premium action.  SharePoint Rest calls using Power Automate are standard.  Its also much easier than building a custom connector.

Ok fair enough 😊

I’ll give it a go, quick question- on the instructions link you sent - the final step is to update the example string to replace “abc” with the user name. Is that my new users’ email address?

The login name will be more than just the email address.  it will be a string in the following form where user@domain.com is the User Principal Name (email address) used to login to SharePoint Online.
