Adding an image control

Hi there @mdevaney  my app is designed to let users record basic details about problem equipment,  the data source is an excel sheet and I would like to keep it like that so I can work easily with the records as they build.  However I would also really like to add an image control so they can take a picture of the faulty equipment and save it with the record.  I presume I can just drop the image control onto the edit form but I am wondering if / how it would be saved given excel is the data source?

Any advice on this one?

Thanks again,

Alan

Re: Adding an image control

Hi @AlanR ,

Could you please share a bit more about your scenario?

Do you want to take a picture for the faulty equipment in your Edit form, then save it into your Excel table?

Based on the needs that you mentioned, I think the Image type column in Excel table could achieve your needs. On your side, you could consider edit your Excel table, then add a new Image type column, called "Image [image]". Then refresh the Excel table in your app, then enable the Image field in your Edit form.

The Image type column should look as below:

4.JPG

When you enable the "Image" field in the Edit form, it would generate a "Add Picture" control for it automatically to take picture:

5.JPG

Please check and see if the following article would help in your scenario:

Re: Adding an image control

Hi @v-xida-msft , thanks very much for the detailed reply, I may not have provided enough information but you certainly did - I have the control added to the app now and it is working well.

I have a supplementary question though - how can I add the image to the DetailScreen so it is viewed as part of the record?
