Addmedia using tablet camera

Is there any way I can use my tablet camera to take pictures with an addmedia control ? I tried to set usemobilecamera property to true but it doesn't work and never asks me if I want to select a file or use my camera.

Hello @Théo_LT ,

It sounds like you're trying to capture images using the device camera in Power Apps. To achieve this, you can utilize the 'Camera' control in your canvas app instead of 'AddMedia' control.

The 'AddMedia' control, although it lets users upload images, videos, and audio files from their device's file system, it does not support direct camera access on a tablet or a smartphone device. It is primarily designed for users to choose already existing files.

The 'Camera' control, on the other hand, is specifically designed to capture images directly using the device's camera.

Here's a simple step-by-step process:

  1. In your Power Apps, select 'Insert' from the ribbon and then 'Media'. From the drop-down, select 'Camera'.
Resize the Camera control on your canvas as needed.
  2. Next, you'll need an 'Add picture' control to display the captured image. You can add one by selecting 'Insert' > 'Media' > 'Add picture'.
  3. To save the image captured by the camera, you need a button that sets a global variable to the Camera.Photo property. Insert a button and in the 'OnSelect' property, use this formula: Set(CapturedImage, Camera1.Photo).
  4. Finally, set the 'Image' property of the 'Add picture' control to CapturedImage.
  5. Now, every time you press the button, the image from the Camera control gets stored in the 'CapturedImage' variable and is displayed in the 'Add picture' control.

Remember to give the appropriate permissions for Power Apps to access the device camera. These permissions typically appear when you first use the Camera control, but you can also manually allow it from your device settings.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hello,

In fact, the addmedia control opens the file explorer on my tablet and the file explorer contains an item to open the device's camera. I just didn't notice it...

Thanks for your answer !
