App suddenly not working not accepting collection "Incompatible Type"

hi all,

have had my app stable for almost 12 months used within the business and between today and friday it's fallen over and the collection it uses is broke.

above is the formula and error message presented. this has been absolutely fine until last week and it's now just not working at all. 

can anyone give me some pointers of where to start with this? assuming it's gotta be some sort of MS update or something as i've not changed the app.

i can't roll it back as it's been stable for more than 6 months.

no idea why but deleting the control and readding it with the same text worked to solve the problem ......my head hurts
