Attaching images to List Item on iOS 13 - form customized with PowerApps

Hi all,

We've submitted this to Microsoft support but haven't gotten a resolution yet. Is this happening to anyone else?

Here's the repro:

  • Navigate to a SharePoint List on mobile
  • Click New
  • Fill out form (form is customized in PowerApps)
  • Click Attach file
  • Result:
    • Expected: Should get option to take photo or select image from library
    • Actual: Instead of being offered option to take picture or view image library we're offered Recent files or the option to Browse iCloud other Documents

This happens in Chrome and Safari and only happens on iOS 13 devices so far as we have tested. The option to take image/choose from library was available on devices with iOS 12.* until those devices were updated to iOS 13.*. This is not limited to customized SharePoint List forms, this also happens in PowerApps created by clicking "Create an app" from the SharePoint List toolbar. Have not tested on apps created from the PowerApps page.

We've updated devices to latest OS, allowed browsers access to images/library, and pulled out some of our hair. We could turn off the custom form but that would kill some of our requirements and hurt user experience.

Advice? Sympathy? Is this happening to anyone else?

Hi @CboakeUIT ,

Do you mean that you can not run sharepoint custom form in ios13 device?

If so, this function is still in "PLANNED" status.

Here's the idea's link:

If this function has any progress, I will reply here.

Anyway, thanks for your feedback!

Hi @v-yutliu-msft,

I'm glad this is in the planning stage and will hopefully be developed and released soon. However, this happens with any App that asks for SharePoint List attachments, not just from custom SharePoint List form. Please see examples below.

  • Navigate to a SharePoint List
  • Click PowerApps, click Create an app
  • Save app
  • Open this app either (both result in the same thing)
    • in a browser on an iOS 13 device
    • from PowerApps application on an iOS 13 device
  • Click New List item
  • Click Add attachment
  • Can't choose image from library or take photos

  • Modify SharePoint List form in PowerApps
  • Open SharePoint List page from an iOS 13 device
  • Create new item
  • Add Attachment to that item
  • Can't choose image from library or take photos

@CboakeUIT You're not alone and we haven't seen anything change in our environment yet. Using the PowerApps Mobile app still allows our users to upload images directly into SharePoint's attachment column; whether they're using iOS 12 or 13. It's not an ideal solution but it's how we're maintaining the user-experience and productivity. You may need to individually re-share access to everyone if they don't see it in the PowerApps Mobile "All Apps" screen.

The Attachments Card is the best connection between SharePoint and PowerApps. I think a control could be useful for getting navigating mobile developer prompts. For instance, the Attachment accept attribute could be a PowerApps pull-down control option for either Any File ("*/*"), or only Images ("Image/*"). The code works, it's just tweaking it to manipulate functionality for multiple devices.
