Auto populate user name only for Closed status

Greetings.

 

I have a SharePoint list that I'm using as a leads database and I'm having a small issue that I cannot figure out. When a rep selects "Closed" from the status dropdown, it autofills the closed date and closed by fields based on who's logged in. I'm using the following code to accomplish that.

When I started testing the form, I noticed that when I made a change to a list items, it wouldn't save back to SharePoint. I found a blog post (don't remember where) that suggested to add the following code in the Update property for the DataCard.

 

{Claims:"i:0#.f|membership|" & User().Email,Department:"",DisplayName:"",Email:"",JobTitle:"",Picture:""}

 

The problem of saving changes to a list item was fixed by adding the code above, but now I noticed that when I select "In Progress" from the status dropdown, it saves the users name in the Closed By field. How can that be fixed?

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Okay...the stage is set then.  Everything in the form appears to work correctly.  The problem is now coming from the Submitting. 

Next row of questions:

1) If you change any other thing in the form and Save, does it update those things in the list?

2) If #1 is a yes - if you change the status, does it update in the list?

@RandyHayes Thanks for taking time out and working with me through this. I truly appreciate it.

 

Answer to your questions.

 

1. Yes. If I change the status to In Progress for example, it saves just fine. Or anything else for that matter. Only happens when I select Close.

2. See #1 above.

 

I've narrowed it down to the Closed By field and all the formulas (clearly)

I'm a little baffled - what we have put together up to this point should be working fine.

EXCEPT I do see in re-reading the posts that I copied and pasted a formula wrong (I'd been a juggle with things today)

Your DefaultSelectedItems property on the ComboBox should be:

I had looked above the post I had earlier and just copied the wrong formula.

 

So, let's at least get that one back in as it should be and see if there is an impact.

@RandyHayes Good news and bad news. Good news is, saving works again when I select closed. The Closed By field auto fills and it saves to the library. Bad news, it looks like the closed by field will change if a different user opens/saves the ticket after it has already been closed. Ugh, I feel like we're so closed....

Actually, my next question would be - if you change the status to closed and then open as a different user, is the status still Closed?

@RandyHayes Yes, if I open the closed ticket as a different user, the status still shows as closed.

Ugh!!! I'm batting a zero today!  I've got so many irons in the fire going on that I'm not getting good focus - I apologize for that.

I originally gave you a formula to account for that and copied the wrong formula from a previous post and changed it.

Then I found that I had done that and lastly gave you a correct, but neglected to put in the part that fixed that issue.

SO...here we go again...The formula below *should* be the nail in the box.  What I was missing was the IsBlank part for the Parent.Default.  It is in this formula for the DefaultSelectedItems:

    If(DataCardValue13.Selected.Value="Closed" && IsBlank(Parent.Default),
        {Claims: "i:0#.f|membership|" & Lower(_user.Email),
         Department:"",
