Trying to build utilities for warehousing / shipping/ photography on the Microsoft Tech Stack and i repeatedly run into errors on the Windows 10 platform with Power App - the barcode scanner is the latest.

Using Windows 10 / Surface / Power Apps / o365

Is there place to find out futures development and get some consistency across the platforms?

Re: Barcode Scanner not supported / Windows 10 Support

Hi @knoseworthy_sjc ,

Actually, barcode scanner is supported in windows 10 device.

Please make sure that you use web bacode scanner , not barcode scanner.

In windows device, you need to use web bacode scanner.

In mobile device, you need to use barcode scanner.

What's more, you need to turn this setting on :

If the problem still exists, could you show me your error message?

Re: Barcode Scanner not supported / Windows 10 Support

Yes - but you pointed out my exact issue.
"This Scanner is Obsolete, but may be useful when scanning codes in a web browser"

So now using power apps - i'd have to figure out some OS detection and change screens and scanners for which barcode scanner to use and have it operate differently?

Any updates on getting consistency across platforms .

Re: Barcode Scanner not supported / Windows 10 Support

Also just restructured the app to use

"Web Barcode Scanner" and using UPS, FEDEX Shipping UPC as test for the app and it had a significant error rate.

Re: Barcode Scanner not supported / Windows 10 Support

Hi @knoseworthy_sjc ,

If your app runs in web, I suggest you use web barcode scanner.

If your app runs in mobile device, I suggest you use barcode scanner.

Both of them has some disadvantages.

Web barcode scanner is not supported in mobile device.

While barcode scanner may not perform good because of obsolete.

For now, web barcode scanner is still in the process of experiment, so it has many limitations.

I believe it will become better in the future.

Thanks for your suggestions! 👍

I suggest you express your views about barcode scanner on PowerApps Ideas Forum. Your precious feedback will be very helpful for our work.

Currently, if you want to use this control both in website and mobile device, maybe you could use these two controls at the same time. And choosing the better one based on your current device.
