Barcode Validation Help

Hi There,

Im currently trying to get a barcode app working in Powerapps, I have it setup atm with a check in and check out button with labels.

The check in button stores the QR Code id and check in time in a sharepoint list, and the checkout button checks the QR Code id and stamps a checkout time against it.

Just wondering how I would implement a validation rule so that it checks an excel coloumn for the QR code ID before stamping the check in time? i.e. if the QR ID wasnt in the list it would display a message i.e. QR Code not valid"

Sure,

Please see pics of the app, and each of the sharepoint lists settings.

The Testsiteinductionresults list has 2 flows assoicated with it, 1 were the results are pulled from a microsoft form and the other is against the QRCode field were it prefixes the ID with a naming structure Testsite00 (then the ID number)

will rename the current siteattendance list and will create one from scratch to see if it fixes the issue.

Just recreated a new list called SiteAttendanceNew, and getting same warning message regarding Name isnt valid, as well as another which shows in valid use of '.'

Did you rename the 'Title' column to the ‘QR’ column?

If so ,please try this formula:

If(!(BarcodeScanner1.Value in TestSiteInductionsResults.QRCode),Notify("QR Code not valid",NotificationType.Error),Patch(SiteAttendance,Defaults(SiteAttendance),{Title:BarcodeScanner1.Value,'Check In Time':Now()}))

No the Title coloumn is untouched it was just hidden, there is a separete coloumn called QRCode.

I just unhid it there and changed the code to above still same errors showing.

Hi @samuelGA ,

By checking your formula, I think the problem is TestSiteInductionsResults list instead of SiteAttendance list.

This is your list name: TestSiteInductionResults.

This is the list name in your formula: TestSiteInductionsResults

They are different .

That was it :)! Brilliant, thanks alot for your help!

There were 2 other options I was hoping to implement in the future, just want to gather your thoughts to see if they were possible:

1. That the checkin value has to be unique if doesnt have a checkout value against it (I think this would be quite hard to implement), its so the same barcode can not be scanned in again without havent checked out first - showing error such as 'QRCode not scanned out'

2. And at present the code on the check out button is as follows:

Patch(SiteAttendanceNew, First(Filter(SiteAttendanceNew, Title=BarcodeScanner2.Value)), {'Check Out Time': Now()})

Which looks in the TItle coloumn for the correct QR code and enters the checkout time in the checkout coloumn, would like it to show an messaage if it cant find a match, i.e. 'QR Code Not Checked In'

Just discovered an issue, when I scan the QR code with the check-out button it just finds the first value in the list and inputs the checkout time.

Not sure how to resolve this as it is going to be an ongoing list so its always going to have duplicate checkins that I will need to matchup with a checkout.

any ideas?

Just on the above, not sure of the best way around this issue. i.e. if someone checks in but doesnt check out, then they check out the next day it updates the wrong row.

So the only way I could think this will work atm is that if I just duplicate the check in and checkout buttons just to update different coloumns and then just manually match them up in excel after the fact. i.e. on screenshot below, I have it so that 478003 scanned in, and then scanned out and it shows them as separate rows on the list.

If you can think of a better way of doing this please let me know. Thanks for your help again.
