Barcodescanner to DataCardValue

Working on a app, quite new at powerapps.

App got 3 screens,

1st screen has the Barcodescanner
Barcodescanner OnScan:
NewForm(EditForm1),,Navigate(EditScreen1, ScreenTransition.None)

2nd uses the barcodescanned number to pickup data from a SQL database aswell as some fields that require manual input.
The data from the SQL database and the manually added data is placed into DataCard's from a data table, which is connected to a SharePoint list.

Example Default:
LookUp(Database, PackageNo = BarcodeScanner2.Value, DatabaseColumn)
The ones which requires manual input has Default:

The issue occours when I try to add the Barcode itself to a DataCard and press "SubmitForm(EditForm1)" Buttom
as i get the error: Object must implement Iconvertible

I've tried many different ways of getting the data into the DataCard, such as, Default:

I've even tried by adding a label and adding Text:

Then copying the label into the DataCard, with the same result.

I've tested the app without the Barcode added to a datacard and it works like a charm.

I've read a bit about the "Object must implement Iconvertible" yet I cant seem to figure out how to solve it, any tips?

Hi @Morten91 ,

The error Object must implement iconvertible is a connection issue - try removing your data source and reconnecting, then exiting and re-opening the app.

Does not seem to be the solution. Removed the data source, and re-added it. Still the same issue.

I also wanna add that, if I first scan, then manually add a few numbers into the DataCard with the barcode scanned numbers, it accepts it.
While not doing anything to it, brings that error: Object must implement iconvertible

Hi @Morten91 ,

That is the only occasion I have received this error and it was fixed by reconnecting the data - you will find several other posts with the same outcome. It is not a Power Apps error, but one returned from the data source.

Made a new SharePoint list, only with the field "Barcode"
- "Create a app" from the SharePoint list.
- Added a Barcodescanner
Changed onscan to "NewForm(EditForm1);;Navigate(EditScreen1; ScreenTransition.None)"

I go to the datacard called Barcode_Datacard1
- Change the default from Parent.Default to BarcodeScanner1.Value

Then i press the SubmitForm, and I get the same Object must implement iconvertible

As i said, I'm quite new to these apps, but for me it seems like the barcodescanner gives a wrong dataformat. Im just testing on QR codes I've created from google.

The number I've been using its 20 digits long, as it's the same as the ones that are being used in production. I tried changing the QR code, adding a few digits and removing a few, then it just works....  ( 31102202091456610811) is the one I've been testing with. Meaning if i have 15 digits it works, if i have 25 it works.

I can only laugh, but why is that so?

Tested with 01234567890123456789 (20 digits) that worked, are my numbers cursed?

Numbers after, 15 shows up as zero's, which is unfortunate.

Both the Number and Currency column types store numerical values. Use a Number column to store numeric data for mathematical calculations that are not financial calculations or do not require a high degree of accuracy. Use a Currency column to store numeric data for financial calculations or in cases where you do not want round numbers in calculations. Unlike a Number column, a Currency column is accurate 15 digits to the left of the decimal point and 4 digits to the right. Both the Number and Currency column types provide predefined formats that determine how data appears.

Swithched over to a text column
- Removed the data connection, and added it again.
- Now i can manually add 20+ long digits when im in the Sharepoint List.
- In the app i still fails in the same way, and I get the same error.

Might be worth to check what you have specified as default values for your data card values of the Sharepoint item form.
Presumably somewhere here you are missing the *.text / *.value / *.result
