Behaviour of the SharePoint list People Picker column. Previous value is retained in case the value of control is updated to blank.Issue is same for all the dropdown columns

Hi All,

I have created a simple sharepoint list based app. In case the value of people picker  is updated to blank from any previous user name,the value of previous username is getting retained.This behaviour is causing confusion as the column is not mandatory but still due to the behaviour its getting treated as mandatory.

According to your description, I learned that the value you want to remove is not in a required field(This point is very important).

Firstly, let me explain why you encountered this problem.

This is a robust design. If the combo box does not select any value, it will not update blank () to a value by default.

Secondly, I suggest you try this solution:

What I understand is that the behaviour is default and any columns with "Checkbox" should not be updated with blank value even if the columns are not mandatory

Not really, I have used a workaround where I made the peoplepicker field required.
