I have a big problem with my app. The app is a simple table booking app where people can easily book tables. The reservation data is stored in several SharePoint lists (booking list, desk list, user list...) . Currently I have the problem that the app takes a relatively long time until something can be done (about 30 seconds until you see all tables). I have this problem in the edit view as well as in the "normal view". After a long search, I found a weak point that could be responsible for the slow performance.
1.) In the app, my tables consist of a group of a small button and a label (every table consists of a label and a button; label shows name of table and whether its free or not and the button to book). As soon as the window is visible, some fetches from the SharePoint list are started:
Button: Text, Tooltip, Visible, Fill.
Label: Tooltip, Visible, Fill
Each time an access to a SharePoint list is created. E.g. Fill: access to the booking list, whether the table is currently occupied or not. E.g. Visible: access to the table list with a query whether the table is activated or deactivated.
The 4 screens have an average of 30 tables. Is it possible that this is where the performance problem arises? If so, are there any possible solutions? I'm pretty sure the problem is with the tables because there is just too much access to lists. But I have no idea how else to do it.
Or could the problem be somewhere else? I have inserted a GIF image, which loads until all tables are loaded. Could this be a problem for the app?

I would say to start with the Monitoring Tool. Run that to see what is taking the long amounts of time. That will give you a good place to start, because, quite honestly, it could be a wide variety of things causing it.

So I just took a look and I don't think there are any big outliers. I've made a few screenshots for you. Do you notice anything here? I think the problem is really because of the tables and their access to the sp lists...
You have some suspicious activities in that list.
I would be wondering why a Fill property would be using so much data! Same for some others...seems like a lot of data for a simple property.
I have many larger apps with well over 30 lists/tables that it draws from. They do not suffer from what you are talking about. Keep in mind that many times the performance of the app has nothing to do with the datasources. Everything in PowerApps is evaluated by its formulas. PowerApps was built around the concept of Excel. Just like in Excel, when you open a workbook, all the formulas are reevaluated and the resultant values are what appear in cells. Also, when you change a value in a cell, all formulas that rely on that cell value will reevaluate...that could be significant in many cases. So to is the situation in PowerApps. If a control formula has a change based on another control, then it will reevaluate itself and thus ANY other control that depends on that as well. AND...also keep in mind, this is across the entire app, not just the screen you are on.
This is a hard concept for developer-types that are coming to PowerApps because in the Dev world, only what you develop/code will be happening. In PowerApps, there is NO development, just formulas that impact other formulas.
SO...what you are looking for in your Monitor Tool, is not one big response time that is to blame, but the fact that it appears you have over 39744 actions that happened just in the course of your loading. The combined responses from all of those events will be the total time to reevaluate your app formulas.
I would really start to look at how formulas are structured - such as what you have on lbl_t_178 for the Fill property. From the looks of it...you really need to streamline your app formulas, it's not so much the data and the tables, but the amount of time that all your controls combined are reacting.

If I'm honest, I don't know exactly where all the data comes from either. My table list has about 150 tables stored and my booking list has about 50 reservations. I really don't understand where the 340,000 entries come from....
I just noticed that it is not always "lbl_t_178", it varies. Every time I re-run it, a different button/label comes first....

As I mentioned before, according to the monitoring tool, it's the labels that cause the most problems. Do you know where the big problem might be here? I don't know how else I should program it...
