Bug in Lookup?

Hello comunity,

I have a form for a SharePoint list (List1), where one of the filed is a lookup to another SP list (List2).

It can happen, that the items on the List2 have the same value in "Name" field (lookup on the List1 is referring to this field).

I have 2 items with the same "Name":

I choose the 1st one. After that I want to change it to the second item and here starts the problem.

I choose the 1st item, then I want to change it to the 2nd one, both are automatically highlighted on the dropdown list:

When I choose the 2nd item, the value of the field will be completely reset:

It doesn't happen, when I choose on the dropdown items with different Names (so e.g. Test and Test1).

Thank you in advance for your help!

It's not best practice to let user choose from values which looks same. when lookup fields are involved. You will get wrong data. better come up with something unique.

For sure, but unfortunately it is a requirement from the customer and we cannot change it.
