Bugs: editor will hang when using Parent.Height on form

When I create a form and set the height of data card and any sub-item in the data card (DataCardValue2 in this case, but other item like textbox is also bugged the editor) to be

Parent.Height

it will create a loop and cause the editor hanged a moment, until the height set to 11360.

Hi @Anonymous

I managed to reproduce your issue after setting 'Parent.Height' to Height property of both DataCard and DataCardValue controls.

I will submit to Microsoft to talk about this issue.

As an alternative workaround, please set the Height property of DataCardValue to 'Parent.Height-100' as follows. Although the height will be 100 lower than the Datacard, the loop error can be resolved.

Hope this helps.

Hi @Anonymous,

Could you share more information about your demo app?

  • Which browser do you use?
  • What is the PowerApps Version? (from Files-Account-Session details)
  • What is the Height property of EditForm?
  • Do your colleagues have the same issue?

I made the test on Phone layout and Tablet layout apps by Edge and Firefox browsers, but I didn't find any loop error.

In general, the 'Parent.Height' property on data card can only inherit the Height of edit form. If the Height property of edit form is constant, I can find any reason for Loop.

Could you share more detailed steps so that I can reproduce the error?

Beyond that, could you please try the following suggestions and check if the issue is fixed?

1. log out of the PowerApps, clear the cache and re-login.

2. create a new canvas app to test to ensure the PowerApps version is the latest(PowerApps 3.20021.27).

3. ensure the EditForm Height is a constant.

4. turn off all Experimental features

BR,

Sik
