CDS data loss

Good morning!

I have been using PowerApps and the Common Data Service for a few months now to design data collection apps. Yesterday, all the data within a CDS Entity was zero'd out. The same number of rows exist, but all fields (including system fields like ModifiedBy, ModifiedDateTime, ID, etc.) contain null data. I have searched the forums, but haven't found any similiar situations, which leads me to believe that maybe a user who has Create/Read/Write/Delete permission to the Entity may have accidentally pushed null data back to the CDS for each row.

I have taken steps to backup new data via Flows, but would like to figure out the cause of the data loss before investing too much time in CDS/PowerApps.

Has anyone else experienced a similiar issue? Is there any way for us to look at the Entity and see the history?

Thank you in advance for the help!

Jason Arnold

Re: CDS data loss

Hi Jsarnold,

I think this issue is an artificial accident since I'm not having this issue and I haven't seen any similar case in this forum. I'm afraid once these data are accidently deleted, you cannot recover it so far.

It is a good idea to always backup the important entities. Also, you could post an idea in the PowerApps Ideas forum, so it might be considered for future releases.

Re: CDS data loss

Thanks, Mona Li! I will put in a request!

I currently have the entity being backed up daily to Google Drive as JSON-type via Flow. Do you have any information on how to save this in a more usable form like CSV? I know in the event of data loss, we can easily convert the JSON array to something more usable, but would like to have the backup in the comma-delimited form if possible.
