Question - Are there any solutions out there where users are able to use PowerApps that do not have direct access to the datasource? Could a service account be used to grant them access instead? I did some testing this afternoon and users(who dont have access to the data source) were able to get into the app, but they were not able to view any of the data or received a white screen upon the opening of the app.
@Eloy Any data source. Can PowerApps still make data available to users if there accounts do not have access to the data source? Most of the apps I work with are either SharePoint Online or On-Prem SQL databases.
No, I don't believe it's possible to allow users to use PowerApps, without granting those users direct access to the data source.
I get the gist of what you want to do though - to protect your data source and to disallow users from accessing your data outside of PowerApps. You may or may not have seen this post on the ideas forum, but I think it would be of interest to you. The suggestion here is to change the security model of PowerApps so that it's possible to grant data access rights to an app, rather than the users.
