Hi there.
I've just finished creating a custom entity in the CDS, and am trying to upload a single line of dummy data to test it.I downloaded an excel template from the entity, but when I upload it back again with the data completed, it give the message "Required Field(s) of Entity Not mapped", however when I check the mapping, it all looks fine. Any ideas on why it won't accept the data?

Hi Caroline,
So are you trying to import data to an entity which has a PersonName data type?
On the Excel which you exported from the entity, please try to modify the column name of each PersonName column to:
Given name of people→PEOPLE_GIVENNAME
Middle name of people→PEOPLE_MIDDLENAME
Surname of people→PEOPLE_SURNAME
Then following the steps in the documentation, I assume you would get a green Match for Mapping status.
The first time when test with a PersonName column, I also get the error. So click Show mapping button, I found that the Target entity for each PersonName column is different from the Source. So I change the column name according to the target name then it works.
Please try it on your side and post back if it will work for you.
Best regards,
Mabel Mao
Hi Caroline,
Please follow the import steps suggested in this documentation:
https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/tutorials/data-platform-export-data/
I just tried to import data from the Excel that I exported before. The data were imported successfully.
When you click Import data button, you will be asked to select the file that you want to import, if the columns match, the Mapping status will be a green Match. Do you get the green Match on your side?
Please follow the documentation and try again with it.
Best regards,
Mabel Mao
Thanks, yes I've gone through the instructions a number of times to see if I'd missed anythign. It seems to be something in the Name fields that it wasn't picking up. I wasn't getting the green Match - it was the red errror, but all fields were correct when I looked at the Mapping status. However, when I took the name field out and replaced it with Text, it worked fine.
