Cant reselect dropdown value unless you click on a second control in IOS

On IPhones im unable to change the selection of a dropdown until a second control has been selected.

the dropdown is populated from a SharePoint choice field.

Steps to reproduce.

Select a value from a dropdown

Try to change the value of the same drop down,  - dropdown flashes open and closes

Select any othe control.

Try to change the value of the first drop down.  - can now change the value

this is not an issue on an Andriod devise, but replicated on Apps from two SharePoint Tennant and multiple versions of IPhone.

Interesting. Please clarify, as I am having the same exact issue with a combobox control and was considering moving to a dropdown control (after adding 'blank' questions to the top of all my options) to try and shake this problem. But if this also happens on the dropdown control, then I will look for other workarounds.

which area would you like clarification on?

Are you using the dropdown control or the combobox control??
