Changes to SQL objects aren't reflected in Powerapps

When I create a new table or view. Or when I change the name of an object in SQL server or add a field, the changes aren'r reflected anymore in Powerapps. So the refresh mechanism seems to be broken.

This used to work ok, but lately this is a problem.

After waiting a few hours, the change is reflected in the end..

This is really not a workable situation and renders Powerapps useless for development with SQL server.

Have you tried refreshing the SQL connection on the left side menu? Click on the SQL connection then click REFRESH. Does this work for you?If yes, then the final step is to republish your app.

You could also try using the Refresh(your_datasource_name) function somewhere in your code. It does the same thing.

Let me know if it works. PowerApps doesn't automatically refresh SQL schemas because they could break the app.

Re: Changes to SQL objects aren't reflected in Powerapps

Hi @Hulliexx ,

It is an known issue with data sources in PowerApps app. When you made some changes within data source, the changes would not take effect within PowerApps app immediately.

As an fixed solution, please consider refresh the SQL Connection within your app manually.

The changes would also be reflected in PowerApps app via executing the Refresh function. You could also consider add a "Refresh" icon in your app, then set the OnSelect property to following:

Refresh([dbo].['SQLTable'])

when you made changes in your SQL Server itself, please press above "Refresh" icon to apply the changes into your app.

Re: Changes to SQL objects aren't reflected in Powerapps

Hi @Hulliexx

This is a known issue and I get how frustrating it is. I would hope that the product team fix this at some stage.

Are you using on-premises SQL Server through the gateway? If so, restarting the gateway service can refresh the objects that you see in PowerApps. This can help when you're adding new tables/views. Sometimes, it's possible to delete and re-add a table/view to make PowerApps recognise any new fields that you've added. It's not a great solution, but it might be better than waiting several hours for your changes to become visible.
