Choosing a value in dropdown and saving is making all other dropdowns the same

Hi Gurus,

I am trying to create an app with an input dropdown where one can select Yes/No. As soon as I am selecting the first one as No or Yes, all the others are becoming the same value as the first entry as soon as first entry is saved.

Is there a way that we cans top this from happening so that the following rows do not become same as 1st entry?

Thanks & Regards,

Tapas

Hi @eka24

Thanks for your response.

We already have the Default property as ThisItem. <column_name> , but it is still giving the same issue.

The other properties such as OnChange and OnSelect are:

Hi Tapas

Your OnSelect property is causing the problem.  I am not sure what you want to happen when the Yes/No dropdown is selected but you do not need dropdown.selected.value.

Hi @LooseChippings

Thanks for your response once again. When the dropdown is selected, all we want to do is to allow the user to enter yes/no value. I have removed the OnSelect property and made it blank for now. We will be testing the solution and see if it works or not.

Thanks & Regards,

Tapas

@LooseChippings ,

We tried your suggestion but still it automatically replicates the value , in subsequent drop downs ,selected in the first drop drop down.

Hi @tapastiwari ,

Could you tell me:

1)do you put these drop downs inside a gallery?

2)the gallery's Items?

3)the drop down's Items?

4)whether you use drop down or combo box?

5)whether do you mean that your drop down display the same value or update with the same value?

Actually, I do not quite understand what's your problem.

Please show me more details.

Hi @v-yutliu-msft

Thanks for your support on this. The details you requested are as follows:

1)do you put these drop downs inside a gallery? Yes, there is a gallery with multiple rows of data and in each row we have a dropdown to select Project completion status as Yes or No.

2)the gallery's Items? The gallery's items are coming from a SharePoint list and refer to project details such as project ID, project name etc.

3)the drop down's Items? The dropdown items are (blank), Yes, and No and refer to the corresponding column on SharePoint list.

4)whether you use drop down or combo box? We are using a dropdown.

5)whether do you mean that your drop down display the same value or update with the same value? The problem we are facing is that when one navigates to the screen, the dropdowns are blank(which is how it should be, as shown in the image)

initial stateinitial state

But as soon as I change the first row to Yes or No and save it, all the subsequent dropdowns become Yes or No depending on what was chosen in the first record(as shown in the image below).

state after changingstate after changing

This is causing an issue because the users get confused regarding the entries made. We want that once the first dropdown is saved as Yes or No, the rest of the dropdowns on the screen should still remain blank.

Hopefully this explains the issue better.

Regards,

Tapas

Hi @tapastiwari ,

Could you tell me this field's data type that the dropdown is used to update?

I've made a similar test but not met the same problem like your descirption.

Here are my settings for your reference:

1)I use drop down to update Title field, data type is Text.

2)I set the drop down's Items:

["","Yes","No"]

set drop down's Default:

ThisItem.Title

set the submit button's OnSelect:

Patch(deeplink,ThisItem,{Title:Dropdown1.Selected.Value})

Hi @v-yutliu-msft ,

Thanks for the response!

Still we are getting the same issue where as soon as the end user selects the first drop down , remaining dropdowns are populated with the same value as selected in the first drop down.
