Combo Box not writing back to Sharepoint List

Hello,

I have a form from a sharepoint list, one of the columns "CustomerNumber" is a lookup to a very large list.  I had to change that datacard "dropdown" to be a combo box so I can use "StartsWith" in order to retrieve all those records.  Everything shows correctly but the selected value is not writing back to the sharepoint list anymore. I have tried everything but can't figure it out.  What do I have to do in order to make this work?

Re: Combo Box not writing back to Sharepoint List

Did you change the "Update" property of the form data card? (I'm assuming that it is on a form.) The update property needs to reference the new combo box.

Re: Combo Box not writing back to Sharepoint List

Hi @mfialek ,

Could you share more with combo box? what is the Items property?

To save LookUp field of SharePoint,  you have to save a record containing '@odata.type', Id and Value.,

Set Update property of data card as below:

{
'@odata.type':"#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedReference",
Id: Combobox1.Selected.Id,
Value: Combobox1.Selected.Value
}

Best regards,

Re: Combo Box not writing back to Sharepoint List

the update only has this

Dropdown1.Selected.Title but it doesn't like "Title" .  I didn't change anything with the properties but

Datafield is "Customer_x0020_Number" which is weird.  CustomerName doesn't have space but it keep showing that way.

Default is ThisItem.CustomerNumber

DisplayMode Parent.DisplayMode

DisplayName "CustomerNumber"

Re: Combo Box not writing back to Sharepoint List

@mfialek,

Hi, i might have an idea,

If you change the 'Update' property from the DataCard from

Dropdown1.Selected.Title

to the name of your new ComboBox.

It should look something like:

<ComboBoxName>.selected.Value

Or

<ComboBoxName>.SelectedItems.Value

Depending if multiple values are allowed.

Hope this helps!

Re: Combo Box not writing back to Sharepoint List

The Update doesn't seem to like anything!

Items I have  ShowColumns(Filter([@MarjCustomer], StartsWith(Title, ComboBox4.SearchText)), "Title")   because of the list and this works fine.  But

I can't put anything that it likes in the DefaultSelectedItems

and in the Update it doesn't like anything either!   value or selected.<column>

What am I doing wrong?

Re: Combo Box not writing back to Sharepoint List

Hi @mfialek ,

Could you share more clear details with your App?

1. What is the data source of your form?

2. Which field data card do you modify?

3. The standalone PowerApps or SharePoint custom form?

In my understanding, the CustomerNumber column is looking up the Title column of MarjCustomer list, right?

If so, first to modify Items property of combobox as below:

ShowColumns(Filter([@MarjCustomer], StartsWith(Title, ComboBox4.SearchText)), "Title", "ID")

Then try to modify the Update property as below:

{
'@odata.type':"#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedReference",
Id: ComboboxName.Selected.ID,
Value: ComboboxName.Selected.Title
}

If this doesn't answer your issue, Please share more details.

Best regards,

Sik

Re: Combo Box not writing back to Sharepoint List

1. What is the data source of your form?

Sharepoint list.  the 3 columns that don't update are CustomerNumber, SupplierNumber because I changed the default  Choices(<table>.column) to

ShowColumns(Filter([@Customer], StartsWith(Title, CustomerSearch.SearchText)), "Title")  to handle the large list.

2. Which field data card do you modify?

I have only modified the Items field and I can't modify the Update because it keeps saysing "Record Value expected"

3. The standalone PowerApps or SharePoint custom form?

This is Standalone

I also tried a custom data card and the display is also Ok but the card doesn't have an update property.
