Hi, i have a sharepoint list in which one of the columns has the type "person or group" (called 'Requested by').
I would like to have a combobox in my powerapp which enables the user to filter the gallery by the values in the 'Requested by' column.
Intuition says that I should select the "Person" layout. However, the 'Requested by' column does not appear under Primary Text, Secondary Text, or Search Field. There are no options under Image. I don't have any better luck when i choose the "Single" layout instead of the "Person" layout.
I also notice that none of the columns in my sharepoint list that have the type "Choice" appear as options.
Is it possible to use combobox with columns that have a choice type?
In the Items property of Combo Box add something like this:
Distinct('List Name', PersonGroupColumn.DisplayName)
In the Items property of the Gallery:
Filter('List Name', ComboBox.Selected.Result = PersonGroupColumn.DisplayName)
This assumes the combo box doesn't allow multiple selections. You will also get the Blue Dot indicating the filter isn't delegable and that is because complex fields (choice, Lookup, People, etc) in SharePoint aren't delegable.
Thanks @Jeff_Thorpe, that works. 'Distinct' is also useful to know.
How can I get the gallery to show all values when nothing is selected in the combo box?
Have you tried using an If() statement. It would look something like this:
If(IsBlank(ComboBox), 'List Name', Filter( 'List Name', ComboBox.Selected.Result = PersonGroupColumn.DisplayName ) )
Sorry this is old as heck but I searched through what felt like a dozen posts and this one is the clearest and the most to the point to answer the desired question thank you greatly
