Concatinate values from my Power App into a SharePoint list.

Hello,
Kind of frustrated here.
Is it possible to write to a Summary field all items that were ordered from the Office Supply Products list to the Office Supply Orders list.
This is the list showing the summary field.

golfnutt82_0-1674679235147.png

I have an "Place Order" button that uses the below logic

Set(
varShowSpinner,
true
);
Set(
varRecordID,
Patch(
'Company Store Orders',
Defaults('Company Store Orders'),
{
'Order Total': With(
{
ST: Sum(
colShoppingCart,
SubTotal
)
},
ST + ST * .06 + 4.99
),
'Order Comments': txtComments.Text,
Title: txtName.Text
}
).ID
);
ClearCollect(
colOrderedItems,
AddColumns(
colShoppingCart,
"OrderID",
varRecordID
)
);
Collect(
'Company Store Orderd Products',
colOrderedItems
);
Navigate('SN Office Supply Orders Screen');
Set(
varShowSpinner,
false
);

Can I modify this to do what I want

Hi @golfnutt82 ,

I think this should do the trick:

Set(
	varShowSpinner,
	true
);

Set(
	varRecordID,
	Patch(
		'Company Store Orders',
		Defaults('Company Store Orders'),
		{
		'Order Total': With( {ST: Sum( colShoppingCart, SubTotal )}, ST + ST * .06 + 4.99),
		'Order Comments': txtComments.Text,
		Title: txtName.Text,
		'Order Summary': ConCat(
			colShoppingCart,
			$"ID: {ProductID} - Title: {Title} - Quantity: {QTY}",
			Char(13)
		)}
	).ID
);

ClearCollect(
	colOrderedItems,
	AddColumns(
		colShoppingCart,
		"OrderID",
	varRecordID
	)
);

Collect(
	'Company Store Orderd Products',
	colOrderedItems
);

Navigate('SN Office Supply Orders Screen');

Set(
	varShowSpinner,
	false
);

I have inserted the 'Order Summary' column in the Patch. Instead of using colOrderedItems, I used colShoppingCart as that seemed more appropriate.

Ps. Not sure what you're trying to do with the collections below the Patch (colOrderedItems and 'Company Store Ordered Products'), but there seems to be some redundancy in your app. Perhaps something to look into in a different topic.

Hi @golfnutt82 ,

If you don't need to store the subtotal, you can simply remove it from the Patch.

To save the contents of the colOrderedItems collection in the 'Company Store Ordered Products' list, use a Patch function instead of a Collect function.

Collections are only used in an app session so whenever the user closes the app it will be gone unless you save it with, for instance, a Patch function.

Set(
	varShowSpinner,
	true
);

Set(
	varRecordID,
	Patch(
		'Company Store Orders',
		Defaults('Company Store Orders'),
		{
		'Order Comments': txtComments.Text,
		Title: txtName.Text,
		'Order Summary': Concat(
			colShoppingCart,
			$"ID: {ProductID} - Title: {Title} - Quantity: {QTY}",
			Char(13)
		)}
	).ID
);

ClearCollect(
	colOrderedItems,
	AddColumns(
		colShoppingCart,
		"OrderID",
	varRecordID
	)
);

Patch(
	'Company Store Orderd Products',
	colOrderedItems
);

Navigate('SN Office Supply Orders Screen');

Set(
	varShowSpinner,
	false
);

So, I found out that this is an older sharepoint solution that is being migrated to SPO.
Here is the JavaScrip custom page showing how they are ordering supplies.

golfnutt82_0-1674678873129.png

When the form is entered it shoves everything into this list as I have shown before.

golfnutt82_1-1674679100050.png

I was thinking I could use a Gallery but I am not sure How I can do the same thing shown above?
Please offer any advice, suggestions or any help if possible.
Thank you!

Hi @golfnutt82 ,

Not exactly sure how your data structure looks, but my first guess on how to create the value for the 'Order Summary' column looks like the below:

ConCat(
	colOrderedItems,
	$"Id: {Id} - Title: {Title} - Quantity: {Quantity}",
	Char(13)
)

It uses string interpolation to create the lines and the Concat function to combine all the lines, separated by a line break.

I didn't see any Patch function that saves to the 'Office Supply Order' list, so you probably need to insert that and use the above code for the 'Order Summary' column.

Hi BC,
I have two Collections.

golfnutt82_2-1674734981446.png

golfnutt82_3-1674735211636.png

When I move the quantity slider it hold a count and a + sign shows up to the right.
I click the plus sign and it adds the item to the shopping cart to the right and then clears the selected item on the left.

golfnutt82_0-1674734552108.png

When I click check out the following screen appears.

golfnutt82_1-1674734728129.png

These are the products sitting in my cart where I can edit the count or delete the item.
The ordered item list holds the email address of the user and any notes/comments but they are not here yet as I havent figured out how to add them because the connection to that list and form are not present here.
When I select Place order I was hoping that the colOrderItems collection can be modified to work with what I have but being somewhat new to this I am a bit lost.
Here is the formula behind the "Place Order" button.
I am trying to sum the count of items orderd.
I may not need this as the order summary field shows the ID of the item, Title and Qty
In this older formula it was written to write into another list one line item for each item ordered, which is not what I want as shown by my previous post showing the lists.
Hope this helps.

Set(
varShowSpinner,
true

'Order Summary': txtComments.Text,

).ID
);
ClearCollect(
colOrderedItems,
AddColumns(
colShoppingCart,
"OrderID",
varRecordID
)
);
Collect(
'Company Store Orderd Products',
colOrderedItems
);
Navigate('SN Office Supply Orders Screen');
Set(
varShowSpinner,

Here is the formula with what you provided.

golfnutt82_4-1674737260326.png

The Id number you are referencing in your concat function is the Id number of the item located in the Office Supply Items list.

When I look at the list I found that 'field_4' is the Order Summary field in the Office Supply Orders list.

Hi @golfnutt82 ,

It seems the closing bracket for the ConCat function is missing after Char(13).

HellO BC,
I have come to the conclusion that updating a SharePoint Orders list item where the field Name is Order Summary with each ordered item as follows is not possible. I will need to use Power Automate to update the Order Summary field.
Thanks for your help.

I had posted this twice in a couple different ways to hopefully get more engagement from the Power App community.
I recieved a couple responses, which was awsome but after much trial and error I found that I could not solve the problem in that I believe I needed to build a new collection but looping throug another collection. I found that looping through a collection isnt supported. So, in conjunction of the Power App and the help of Power Automate,

Hi @golfnutt82 ,

Not sure why you came to the conclusion it is not possible to do this in Power Apps. Using the ConCat function, this is entirely possible. Happy to continue working to finding a solution if you wish so.
