Connection to Dynamics 365 dataset

Hi everyone,


Probbably a small question, i can create a new connection based on the Dynamics 365 for opertations connection in powerapps. Then i see several of our enviroments that i can acces the dataset from.


Could anyone tell me how it is based what datasets or rather said enviroments i can see and connect to? Do i for example need LCS acces rights to that enviroment in order to see it and connect to it or is this based on something else?

Hi @SeanJansen,


Basically PowerApps would only use the credentials which is added when creating the corresponding connections to access the data.

For the different data source access permission, I think this should be configure through the data source side(Dynamics 365 for operations).

So under PowerApps, what you need to do is choose the Dataset and the entity (table), then the App would generated automatucally based on the selected entity(table).

It clears a lot but maybee i did not fully understand, when i create a new app i have the possibility to create a new connection. When setting this connection to D365 for operations i see 20 of our D365 databases on which i can connect and see the Dataset.


But i want to connect to an database that is not in that list, but even though im added as an admin to azure for those new enviroments i do not see them in my list of 20 databases. Do you mean that i maybee should be an admin user within the D365 for operations system in order to connect to it or would i need to be an admin to something else?

I also experienced this same issue today, and I was able to resolve it by adding my user to the corresponding Security Group for the CRM 365 instance. 


After I added my user to the Security Group and I refreshed the Datasets list in PowerApps my CRM Organization was listed there successfully.
