Converting Year Quarter time value to a date for comparison

Hey All. I have a SharePoint data list that uses a start date and end date, but these are apparently text. The dates use the year and the quarter, such as 2020 Q2. I need to do a comparison for validation. I want to restrict the user from entering an end date that occurs before the start date. I still want the data to write back to SharePoint as Year and Quarter

Do I need to do a conversion before comparison or is there some other way for comparison without conversion?

Thanks!

@bblackwell3

You will need to include a conversion to the quarter date in your comparison formula.  There is not a way to compare quarters without it.  Either convert the initial stored value or convert the next value and compare that.

I hope this is helpful for you.
