Creating a record on a Form to link to other tables/data cards

Hi everyone

I am trying to create a new record of a type i.e. Phone Call in CE - however, I can not figure out how to add datacards from multiple tables to create the record. I.e. the Account or Contact needs to be part of the record, but it does not allow me to add it to the Form.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Sigi

Hello there!  It might be easier for the forum to respond if you supply some further details:

  • What datasource you are using (Excel, SP, CDS, SQL)
  • Sample data from your data tables
  • Column types of your data tables
  • A screenshot of the form you are trying to build

Sorry about that - see attached doc - CDS

@shawkinson

Any chance you can also supply the requested sample data and table info?

See attached Screenshot - this is data coming from our CE instance using CDS

@mdevaney

Have you had any change to look at the additional information?

Thanks,

@shawkinson

My apologies for the delay.

I must admit I do not understand the data table & relationships strucutre here.  What I can tell you for sure is an Edit Form cannot have more than one datasource.

There are two possible approaches here:

(1) create an unbound From using a series of controls rather than an Edit form.  When the User clicks Submit the data would be inserted into both tables using two PATCH functions.

(2) create an Edit form bound to a collection.  The collection would have data from both datasources.  When the User clicks Submit the data would be inserted into the collection.  After that, data stored in the collection would need to be inserted using 2 PATCH statements.
