I have a big task of taking our newly formed equipment reservation system and implementing a method to cross reference new requests against current ones and update item qty accordingly. I'm not sure the best approach but would REALLY appreciate some guidance here. This community has been a huge help.
Workflow for new reservations
Item Catalog SPList
Reservation SPList
Reservation Gallery w/ Qty Displayed
Gallery Details Field (Likely where I will need to update Qty and cross reference?)
Text("Total Available:" & " " & ThisItem.Quantity)
Date Selection Variables Saved From First Step of Creating a Reservation
Set(
selectedDate,
Calendar_1.StartDate
);
Set(
selectedEndDate,
If(
IsBlank(Calendar_1.EndDate),
Calendar_1.StartDate,
Calendar_1.EndDate
)
);

Hi @Anonymous ,
Please consider take a try with the following formula:
"Total Available: " & ThisItem.Quantity - Sum(
Filter(
'Equipment Reservations',
DateValue(Text('Check Out From',DateTimeFormat.ShortDate)) <= DateValue(Text(selectedDate,DateTimeFormat.ShortDate)) && DateValue(Text('Check Out To',DateTimeFormat.ShortDate)) >= DateValue(Text(selectedEndDate, DateTimeFormat.ShortDate)),
'Items Requested' = ThisItem.Item
),
'Quantity Requested'
)
Please try above solution, then check if the issue is solved.
Regards,
EUREKA! That worked!!! I'll do a bit more testing but so far so good. I'll be sure to mark solution tomorrow if everything still looks good!

Regards,
I spoke too soon. Seems like there is still a little bit on issues.
It looks like if either the start or end date are outside of the reservation window, they wont show.
Example - Code Cart Reserved from 8/14-8/16
New Reservations
8/13 - 8/17 - Not decreasing Qty
8/13 - 8/15 - Not decreasing Qty
8/15 - 8/20 - Not decreasing Qty
8/14-8/16 - Correctly decreasing Qty
8/14 only - correctly decreasing qty
8/15 only - Correctly decreasing qty
It seems like the last 2 methods dont want to correctly calculate if the new reservation dates overlap the start or stop date of current reservations. I'm wondering if it needs to have a statement like "Greater than this but not past this" for both the start and end?
Hi @Anonymous ,
Regarding the issue that you mentioned, it seems that we do not mentioned the union between the selected date and already reservation date.
Modify your formula as below:
"Total Available: " & ThisItem.Quantity - Sum(
Filter(
'Equipment Reservations',
DateValue(Text('Check Out From',DateTimeFormat.ShortDate)) <= DateValue(Text(selectedEndDate,DateTimeFormat.ShortDate)) || DateValue(Text('Check Out To',DateTimeFormat.ShortDate)) >= DateValue(Text(selectedDate, DateTimeFormat.ShortDate)),
'Items Requested' = ThisItem.Item
),
'Quantity Requested'
)
Regards,
I tried this one and tried swapping the Less Than Greater Than statements. This method ends up not putting an end to the dates so the code cart looks like its always reserved.
I'm trying to think the statements through more clearly.
If the start date is within this range or the end date is within the range, count it.
Something like -
Start date is >= Check Out From but not >= Check Out To OR End date is >= Check Out From but not <= Check Out To?
Hi @Anonymous ,
Yeah, you are right. I think you are in the right direction.
You should modify your formula as below:
"Total Available: " & ThisItem.Quantity - Sum(
Filter(
'Equipment Reservations',
(DateValue(Text('Check Out From',DateTimeFormat.ShortDate)) <= DateValue(Text(selectedDate,DateTimeFormat.ShortDate)) && DateValue(Text('Check Out To',DateTimeFormat.ShortDate)) >= DateValue(Text(selectedDate,DateTimeFormat.ShortDate))) || (DateValue(Text('Check Out To',DateTimeFormat.ShortDate)) <= DateValue(Text(selectedEndDate, DateTimeFormat.ShortDate)) && DateValue(Text('Check Out To',DateTimeFormat.ShortDate)) >= DateValue(Text(selectedEndDate,DateTimeFormat.ShortDate))),
'Items Requested' = ThisItem.Item
),
'Quantity Requested'
)
Regards,
I had just finished making a draft version when you posted yours. I think we are ALMOST there.
Everything works as expected unless the new reservations completly overlaps a current one.
Example - Current Reservation 8/14 - 8/16
A new reservation for 8/13-8/17 will not decrease Qty.
I'm thinking one more OR statement? Here is the code I made, I just flipped around a the dates vs. column names since thats how I drew it out.
Sum(
Filter(
'Equipment Reservations',
DateValue(
Text(
selectedDate,
DateTimeFormat.ShortDate
))
>= (DateValue(
Text(
'Check Out From',
DateTimeFormat.ShortDate
))) && Not(DateValue(
Text(
selectedDate,
DateTimeFormat.ShortDate
))
> (DateValue(
Text(
'Check Out To',
DateTimeFormat.ShortDate
)))) || DateValue(
Text(
selectedEndDate,
DateTimeFormat.ShortDate
))
>= (DateValue(
Text(
'Check Out From',
DateTimeFormat.ShortDate
))) && Not(DateValue(
Text(
selectedEndDate,
DateTimeFormat.ShortDate
))
> (DateValue(
Text(
'Check Out To',
DateTimeFormat.ShortDate
)))), 'Items Requested' = ThisItem.Item
),
'Quantity Requested'
)
I took a piece from one of your first suggestions. I THINK I got it working 100%. Doing a little bit more testing. Does this look right?
Sum(
Filter(
'Equipment Reservations',
(DateValue(
Text(
selectedDate,
DateTimeFormat.ShortDate
)
) >= (DateValue(
Text(
'Check Out From',
DateTimeFormat.ShortDate
)
)) && Not(
DateValue(
Text(
selectedDate,
DateTimeFormat.ShortDate
)
) > (DateValue(
Text(
'Check Out To',
DateTimeFormat.ShortDate
)
))
)) || (DateValue(
Text(
selectedEndDate,
DateTimeFormat.ShortDate
)
) >= (DateValue(
Text(
'Check Out From',
DateTimeFormat.ShortDate
)
)) && Not(
DateValue(
Text(
selectedEndDate,
DateTimeFormat.ShortDate
)
) > (DateValue(
Text(
'Check Out To',
DateTimeFormat.ShortDate
)
))
)) || (DateValue(
Text(
'Check Out From',
DateTimeFormat.ShortDate
)
) >= DateValue(
Text(
selectedDate,
DateTimeFormat.ShortDate
)
) && DateValue(
Text(
'Check Out To',
DateTimeFormat.ShortDate
)
) <= DateValue(
Text(
selectedEndDate,
DateTimeFormat.ShortDate
)
)),
'Items Requested' = ThisItem.Title
),
'Quantity Requested'
)
Hi @Anonymous ,
Yeah, you are right. Just need to add a extra Or statement.
Modify formula as below:
Sum(
Filter(
'Equipment Reservations',
DateValue(
Text(
selectedDate,
DateTimeFormat.ShortDate
)
)
>= (DateValue(
Text(
'Check Out From',
DateTimeFormat.ShortDate
))) && Not(DateValue(
Text(
selectedDate,
DateTimeFormat.ShortDate
))
> (DateValue(
Text(
'Check Out To',
DateTimeFormat.ShortDate
)))) || DateValue(
Text(
selectedEndDate,
DateTimeFormat.ShortDate
))
>= (DateValue(
Text(
'Check Out From',
DateTimeFormat.ShortDate
))) && Not(DateValue(
Text(
selectedEndDate,
DateTimeFormat.ShortDate
))
> (DateValue(
Text(
'Check Out To',
DateTimeFormat.ShortDate
)))) ||
DateValue( // add extra Or Statement here
Text(
'Check Out From',
DateTimeFormat.ShortDate
)) >= DateValue(
Text(
selectedDate,
DateTimeFormat.ShortDate
)) && DateValue(
Text(
'Check Out To',
DateTimeFormat.ShortDate
)) <= DateValue(
Text(
selectedEndDate,
DateTimeFormat.ShortDate
)),
'Items Requested' = ThisItem.Item
),
'Quantity Requested'
)
