Custom API created with Swagger: Can the source data be updated after they are changed by PowerApps

When we create an API to connect to a custom data source using the Swagger tool and providing the additional MS-PowerApps specific file, is there something special that has to be done to enable "Patch"ing the custom data source, or does swagger built custom API only allow reading the custom data source?

Re: Custom API created with Swagger: Can the source data be updated after they are changed by Power

Hi Olivier,

It seems that Patch and SubmiForm function are not supported in Custom API connection yet. This article about “Understand data sources in PowerApps” could be a reference for you:
https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/tutorials/working-with-data-sources/

Please refer to this section:
For more fine grained control over the process, you can also use the Patch and Errors function. The Edit form control exposes an Updates property so that you can read the values of the fields within the form. You can also use this property to call a custom API on a connection, completely bypassing the Patch and SubmitForm functions.

Re: Custom API created with Swagger: Can the source data be updated after they are changed by Power

Hi MabelMao,

Are you saying that via a custom API created using the Swagger tool, it is possible to update items / records in the data source without using Patch and SubmitForm?

What would be the function within PowerApps that would be used to update the records in the datasource?  What do you mean when you say "You can also use that property to call a custom API on a connection..."?  To update the source?

Do I understand correctly that, using the Edit Form control, and using the Updates property on that form, it is possible to call the custom API so that ALL the fields within that form will be updated at the data source?

Thanks for the help,

Oliver,

I too would like to know how to make a Custom API act like a 'tabular' datasource in PA design time tooling.
