Custom Connector Question

Hi!

 

So, if there is an existing API, let's say using the already built SAP Connector from microsoft.

 

If I wanted to extend its capability, and build a custom connector, do I need to do this from scratch?

 

Or can, I sort of leverage the existing connector and extend it?
