Custom Control Datasource Failing

Currently my custom control within PowerApps is not able to connect to any of the datasources I have tried:

On premise SQL

SharePoint List

Trying to create a reusable gallery control across multiple screens that all connect to the same datasource but I get the red squiggle line underneath my named datasource when trying to set this within Items under the Gallery.

@dgDHG

Two questions:

#1  Have you successfully connected to the datasource?  Please show a screenshot of the datasources in your left-side menu.

#2  Can you please show a screenshot of your code?

Both of these are necessary to solve the problem.

Re: Custom Control Datasource Failing

Yes, I am able to successfully connect to the datasource. All screens have no issue, just the custom component.

Per your request a screenshot is provided:

@dgDHG ,

Just helping @mdevaney here.

Your screen shot suggests this is a gallery with the Items directly connected to a the SharePoint list RecordExceptionsManagement and you are getting errors - rather strange - what do the errors say?

Re: Custom Control Datasource Failing

Thank you @WarrenBelz and yes more specifically, a sql server backend and the gallery is inside a Component.

The datasource connects fine in a screen

But does not connect in a component.

The error reads: "Name isn't valid. This identifier isn't recognized"

OK @dgDHG ,

I do not use components, so I will tag @mdevaney to continue with this.

His timezone I suspect will not see him online presently.

Re: Custom Control Datasource Failing

@WarrenBelz  thanks for the tag, not sure about this one though.

@dgDHG , are you using a component as a gallery, is this correct? I've yet to create my first working component so totally flying blind, but I didn't even know they could be used for this? Do you have a link to a blog or YouTube video to reference and I could have a look at it.

All I know about components, based on forum posts in recent months, is that anything other than basic components eg headers, sidebars, etc seems to break.

Re: Custom Control Datasource Failing

@Eelman

That appears to be the case that the controls are limited in functionality at the moment.

For example, if I add a gallery or datatable to a control and try to

within the Items source, bind that to say a SharePoint List or SQL DB,

it simply does not work.

I believe this is outside of the functionality but did not want to assume.
