Customized SharePoint form pulls oldest list item on edit

I have a customized SharePoint list form with a gallery. The SharePointForm1 contains fields from a parent list. The gallery patches items to a child list. Everything is working fine on form creation. However, if I select an item in the parent list to edit it, the form is pulling the data from the first (oldest) item in the list rather than the selected item. What should I check and set to have the edit form pull the data from the item selected to edit?

I would start by checking your OnSelect formula in the gallery and make sure it's not referencing 'First'

The gallery OnSelect property is blank.  However, the Item property for SharePointForm1 is:

If(IsBlank(SharePointIntegration.Selected) || IsEmpty(SharePointIntegration.Selected), First([@'Drug Screen Initiation']),SharePointIntegration.Selected)

Could this be the problem?

If you want it to pull the most recent, try using 'Last' instead of first.

I'm afraid that's not the solution. That just changes it from pulling the first item to the last item. What I want is to select the item in the parent list, click the Edit button and open that item's data in the form.

Try changing the OnSelect formula on your gallery to Select(Parent) and your form Item property to GalleryX.Selected, not sure why you have the If(IsBlank....  part.

Not sure I follow. When I enter Select(Parent) for the Gallery OnSelect I get an error (red squiggly line).

As for the item property for SharePointForm1, my assumption was that I needed the IsBlank to set up the condiction: "If the selected item in SharePointIntegration is blank or empty, display the first item in SharePointIntegration." The idea being that only when there are no items in the parent list will the condition be true and the first item be displayed. I'm not sure where in that string to plug in (for me) Gallery3.Selected.

My apologies, I am not sure I follow how an entry in the SharePoint list would be blank.  If there is an entry there, is it that specific fields are blank?

I am having some difficulty trying to wrap my head around this.   By it's nature items in a SharePoint list aren't exactly blank.  There might be some empty columns but something has data in it.   So I am not sure what you are trying to do.

By default, the way Edit works in a modified sharepoint form is to allow you to edit an existing item.  You shouldn't have to do anything special to make that work.   New will allow you to create a new item.

If I have presumed incorrectly that you are working on a modified sharepoint form, please let me know.

No, you're correct. I'm working in a customized SharePoint form. The whole "IsBlank" business is just the default for the SharePointForm1 Item when you create a customized form. I even created a new list and a new form and that was the line PowerApps entered for the new form's Item setting. And on that form it behaves as you'd expect. If I select an item and click edit, I get that item's data. Don't know why my other list isn't working that way.

Given that, I am afraid I don't have any good answers for you.    If you haven't customized it much you might revert back to the default SharePoint forms and delete the Power Apps modified one and then start fresh.   I could be that something glitched.

You should find the options in list settings and then Form Settings.
