DATA ENTRY POSSIBLE?

Good afternoon,

I am new to PowerApps but I am an avid Excel user. I would like to setup an app for data entry purposes. I have a few questions....

1. Is it possible to have multiple users input data into the app via text input boxes and a submit button at the bottom?

2. If yes, would it also update the excel file in real time if it is stored on a OneDrive account.

3. Could you pull/view reports from the file using the App?

Any of this possible with PowerApps?

Re: DATA ENTRY POSSIBLE?

Hi:

https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/tutorials/get-started-create-from-data/

... from LEARN Tutorial will tell you everything.

- You can either have data entered into Excel first and upload (in bulk, esp when you had existing bulk data), or

- Enter from App and saved (Button.SubmitForm when using create apps from data or use Patch(.....) if done manually) into Excel

You can use Excel stored in

- Dropbox (so far the fastest connection. within 3-5 seconds)

- OneDrive and Goole Drive (slowest, maybe 20-40 seconds)

Then, you can view it easliy using Gallery.

Hope this helps.

Re: DATA ENTRY POSSIBLE?

Hi Preston,

1. Yes, this is possible. You need an "Excel on OneDrive/DropBox" connection to accomplish this.

2. Yes, as long as it's stored on OneDrive and accessed via the connection above.

3. Reports are not supported. PowerApps can extract table information & data from .xlsx, and nothing else. Computed columns are also not currently supported.

I hope this helps.

Re: DATA ENTRY POSSIBLE?

Thank you for the prompt reply. So I got two yes's and a maybe/not yet. Sounds like I am on the right track. So now I have a second question (or fourth if your keeping track). How can I learn how to do what I previously asked? Following are two pictures, one of the APP and one of the Spreadsheet. Getting the data from the APP to the Spreadsheet is the goal. Any tips???
