Dataverse for Teams / Edit In Excel option doesn't show -- is this available for GCC?

When I follow the instructions:

1. Go to your Team/Channel

2. Click the ellipse in the LH Nav (More Apps)

3. When it brings up Power Apps, I choose my App (OKRMaint), it opens in Power Apps Canvas editor

4.  From Power Apps, I choose Data icon from the LH Nav.  This lists all my tables

5.  I click the ellipse on one of the tables.

I am *expecting*  to see Edit in Excel as one of the options but this is all I get:  Edit Data, Refresh, Remove.   No option to Edit In Excel.  Is there something that needs to be turned on for this to work?  Is this not available for GCC (where would I look to find out?)

What happens when you click "Edit data"?

I'm not in GCC but I don't see it either. It's because

1. That's a Dataverse data source, not Excel.

2. "Edit in Excel" isn't accessed from there - not even for a direct Excel data source from a OneDrive Excel file.

Some more detail what you are trying to do might help. Are you trying to access Dataverse directly? You can't do it from there, you should go to Dataverse.

Steps to access Dataverse Edit in Excel option

A. First go to make.powerapps.com

For you it would be a different US Government URL as per this guide

Non US Government URLUS Government URL
https://make.powerapps.comhttps://make.gov.powerapps.us (GCC)
https://make.high.powerapps.us (GCC High)
https://make.apps.appsplatform.us (DoD)

B. From upper right make sure to select the correct environment.

Now:

1. Click Dataverse on the left, then click Tables

2. Click on the Table you want

3. At the top, click Edit and then click Edit data in Excel

See if it helps @MelissaReed

It opens the in table-view form

MelissaReed_0-1665508638844.png

But this is not equivalent to Excel because you can only edit one cell at a time.  you can't paste in a row or a block of cells worth of data like you can in Excel.

@MelissaReed If you follow the steps I gave instead, does it open it in Excel?

I am not in GCC, but to my knowledge, the way to open Dataverse Table for editing in Excel is not through the way you are attempting, but the steps I gave instead, GCC or not.

Do the steps I give work for you?

Thanks for your very thorough reply.

Please note I am working in Dataverse for Teams not standard Dataverse.

This is accessed from within Teams.

I was in a class recently with Shane Young that demonstrated the ability to use Edit In Excel on a Dataverse for Teams table defined within a particular channel via the Teams Power Apps editing session.

This allows you to manipulate the data in that Dataverse for Teams table as a spreadsheet.  When done, you Publish and it takes care of getting those changes up to Dataverse for you.

Since I'm following the same step by step I'm wondering if there's some add-in or feature that I'm missing or that's not turned on -- some local administrative roadblock.   Or is it one more thing that's not available to GCC users (and if so where would I go to see the roadmap that would give me some indication when it might be available)

I followed your steps and but was not successful on two counts.

1) Dataverse for Teams tables are held within the Teams, not accessible at an environment level like standard Dataverse tables would be.   My D4T tables do now show up in the Dataverse Table list for any environment.  Only within the Teams Power App in which it was created.

2) Edit in Excel did not appear even on user-created standard Dataverse tables (the steps you were detailing)

Dataverse for Teams

@MelissaReed It's interesting it did not appear even for the Standard ones. Maybe the feature is not available for GCC like you suspected. However, try this below too:

Can you check if these steps work instead to open a Dataverse for Teams table in Excel?

If the above does not work, maybe the feature is not supported in GCC. In case maybe @v-jefferni , @v-bofeng-msft , or someone else could confirm it for sure?

Yep already tried those steps.

It just seems Edit In Excel is not available to me at all in the GCC.   So the answer is "tough luck!"  LOL.

If anyone has a link to the when this function is scheduled to be available in GCC  please post it here.   I've googled it to death and can't seem to find this information.

@MelissaReed, exactly what I'm looking for as well.  (And getting tired of hearing "Our license doesn't have that.")
