Date formatting not working

Simple issue, I have my date picker formatting set to "mm/dd/yyyy" but it doesn't add the leading zeros to the month or day if they are single digit values. Any ideas as to why or how I can enforce those leading zeros?

Ah, turns out there was a text box underneath a transparent date picker that was improperly formatted, thought I was looking at a date picker only. got it sorted. thanks CNT.
