Date-picker issues with format and excel

Hi community!

I am a beginner, struggling with some basics:

I have a date picker in a form. When trying to save the value to an Excel spreadsheet, I am told that the expected format is a string and that my submitted value is incorrect.

I traced the form and apparently, the submitted value is "desired_go_live": 1612047600000

I set the date-picker format to ShortDate, but it does not seem to have any effect.
What am I doing wrong?

HI @Dubmaker,

For this requirement - First, you have to change the text formate in the Excel file and Save the Date as a text from the Power app.

Like below. Text(DatePicker.SelectedDate);

Hi Vijay,

thank you for your quick answer. Unfortunately no change.

I changed the format in the App designer to Text(DateValue4.SelectedDate)

Now, when I start the app, the starting value is no longer a date, but a number. I selected a date and submitted the form. This is what is being sent:

Hi @Dubmaker ,

For DIsplay Date - You can use like below.

Please just cross-check you changed or not Column formate as text in Excel and please save the file after the change.

Hi Vijay,

Thank you for trying to help. I can confirm that ALL columns in the Excel file are set to "text". I am however not sure that is the problem. The error is that the data submitted from the app is numeric. According to the form in the data (as reflected in the trace and shown in the screenshot attached earlier), the app is sending a number, not a string.

I also noticed that many other fields in the form are being ignored completely. That is a different issue, but it seems my form is messy as it is.

Thank you
