Default Selected Items in Combobox

Hi,

I have created an app which has the data source as 2 separate SharePoint lists on different sites.

I have a new mode form which collects information from one of the sharepoint lists and saves it to the other sharepoint list via a comobobox and concat the values to a multiline text field:

Left(Concat(ComboBox4.SelectedItems, 'Name of information asset'&"|"),Len(Concat(ComboBox4.SelectedItems, 'Name of information asset'&"|"))-1)

This then populates another column of the sharepoint list with the ID from the combobox selected item:

Left(Concat(ComboBox4.SelectedItems, ID&";"),Len(Concat(ComboBox4.SelectedItems, ID&";"))-1)

When on edit mode, I have managed to create a combobox where the default selected items is populated from a gallery which splits the multiline text field:

RenameColumns(Gallery2.AllItems,"Result","Name_x0020_of_x0020_information_")

However, the defaultselecteditems is not populating the ID for the other column although it recognises there are default selected values. I am getting the ";" for the amount of default selected values that there are, along with the ID of any new selected items.

Left(Concat(ComboBox1.SelectedItems, ID&";"),Len(Concat(ComboBox1.SelectedItems, ID&";"))-1)

I just need to bring back the ID of the default selected items.

Thanks

Hi all, I have nearly completed the app and this is the last step left. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks

@BSahota

By "ID" do you mean the ID of a SharePoint record or are you wanting the Id (note the lowercase 'd') of a Choice column item?

It would be helpful to know the Items and DefaultItems properties of your combobox.

Hi,

It would be the ID of a SharePoint record. I have attached some information that will help understand my problem.

First screenshot is of the combobox referencing another sharepoint list. The defaultselectedvalues are actually selected when the combobox is clicked to search for more to add in edit form. The defaultselectedvalues are pulled from gallery2 which is splitting gallery1 selected item to display that record for edit form.

And the bottom screenshot shows the concat which isn't returning the ID for the defaultselectedvalues, only new selected items.

Thanks

Seems to me that the DefaultSelectedItems is the issue. Items that get selected after the default items load get an ID whereas those that come in initially don't. To test this, try removing Timesheets and Planning Tracker then adding them back in to see if their ID's are added?

HI @Anonymous

Yeah, if I deselect the selected items from the combobox and reselect them, then the ID is generated. I thought it was an issue with the defaultselecteditems even though they appear as selected fields within the combobox items. Do you know if there is anyway to force the defaultselecteditems to act as newly selected items?

@BSahota

The DefaultSelectedItems (DSIs) needs to be connected to the Items of your combobox, your formula doesn't appear to be. What are Items properties of Gallery1 and Gallery2 and what do they do?

If you could re-write your DSI formula to a LookUp of your Items that may work?

Thanks @Anonymous, when I change the DSIs to connect to the Items, it works!

However, this has given me another issue.

Gallery 1 is just allowing users to select a row from the sharepoint source where the form is submitted for people to edit.

Gallery 2 is splitting the gallery1.selected.'asset name' by "|" and storing it as a result, as I am using concat and "|" to save it back to the sharepoint list as a multiline text field.

To make the DSI of the combobox delegable, I have used the below formula:

Filter('IAR (All DfE)', StartsWith('Name of information asset',?) but I am unsure of how to convert gallery2 all items into string so it filters on all of the results in gallery 2. is this possible?

I have also tried creating a collection: clearCollect(Assets, {Name:Split(Gallery1.Selected.'Asset(s) Name',"|")}) which bypasses gallery2.

Thanks

@Anonymous I've written this: Filter('IAR (All DfE)','Name of information asset' in Assets) in the DSI but this isn't delegable so stops working after 2000 rows. Assets is a variable which splits gallery1.selected.assets by "|".

@BSahota

Hey mate, I'm kinda struggling to understand your process needs here, is it possible to provide a data example?

I was thinking a variable, similar to the collection you've done, may work. You could then Concat this into a string.
