Default value for dropdwon selected but on save, the value is not visible in the list record

I have a column in my SharePoint list called as "Countries".I used "Editform" and created a form "XYZ" directly from my sharepoint list and hence got my countries dropdwon automatically created. But to avoid various problems likes zoomin issue in iOS, to add more visual appeal in the screen etc., I created an independent drop- down (say ABC) using the dropdown control and connected it with the SharePoint list for the column values of Countries.

Now, I set visible as false for the form XYZ itself but made sure that the datacard value of the Countries column in XYZ has a default value as "ABC.Selectedtext".

When I select a value in ABC drop-down, I see the same value in the Countries field of XYZ.So that means the connection works between both drop-downs.

Problem is when I submit the form , it is submitted successfully. But when I open the list to check if the record is saved or not byt Countries column is empty.

I am not sure why it is not saving when it is showing it on the screen of my app.

Any suggestions?

Is country a lookup field? Also what is the Update property of the dropdowns?

SelectedText is "deprecated" property. That means it may have issues because it is being phased out.

See https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/canvas-apps/controls/control-drop-down

...

Reset – Whether a control reverts to its default value.

SelectedText (Deprecated) – A string value that represents the selected item.

SelectionColor – The text color of a selected item or items in a list or the color of the selection tool in a pen control.

...

Try using Text or another non-deprecated property and see if it helps.

Thanks for the information.

Though I am using it for other text fields as well and it works.
